It comes down to this... As long as people are still coming to the parks they will keep raising prices, it's how business' are ran. Yes it sucks bc WDW is already expensive. But WDW isn't hurting in people coming to the parks. I go once a year and try different seasons to try and hit low crowds and even in just the last few years I've noticed that even the low times are a lot more crowded now, so they're not hurting. We love staying onsite but sometimes it's just not doable money wise. Luckily their are other options and people don't look at them sometimes to cut costs. Rental houses offsite is a big one. The only way Disney will ever cut prices or stop inflating them is if they stop making more money each year and that's not happening. They're smart they update the parks often enough to keep it new and do different events to keep it fun. I gladly pay for my WDW vacations it just has to be planned in advance bc of the money.

I agree 100% with the article, and I think the tides are turning. First of all, on the local news I saw two young visitors being interviewed about what they did in Orlando, and they said they went to Universal and SeaWorld (no mention of Disney). Second of all, I personally heard a man at MK say to his family that Universal was hands down better than Disney. Lastly, I was there on Easter and there were no phase closings at all. It was mildly crowded, not insanely crowded.

Unfortunately "Dad" has come to the same conclusion I did a few years ago. During the 2000's I went to WDW trying to recreate the fun I had during the late 80's to early 90's. I finally had to come to the cold hard reality that the WDW I love is 700 miles away AND 25 years ago. There will always be the Disney fans that their religion is Disney, & will never admit the problems. The "good if you don't go it leaves more room for me" crowd. If things continue as they seem to be, it will be increasingly difficult for even the most ardent Disney believer to deny the costs.
How much is the Disney magic worth to you? $200.00/day? $500.00/day? $1000.00? The prices will continue to escalate as long as people are willing to pay. For me what I'm able to pay is different from what I'm willing to pay. Everyone has to make that determination based on their own finances & common sense. To be honest I wouldn't mind paying more if I felt like it was worth it, but high prices, average food AND large crowds? Will I go back to Disney? Probably, in 3 or 4 yrs when Star wars & Avatar are finished. But gone are the days of going to WDW exclusively for 5-7 days and staying on property. If I do go, it will be 1-2 days in conjunction with other attractions in Orlando.
It is, what it is. I'm just glad I went to WDW when I did & I have those memories. Times change and you have to adapt & adjust. I do feel sorry for all the families & kids that will only be able to go once or twice in their life, or perhaps not at all. Disney has always relied on brand loyalty, it's hard to be loyal to something you see only once or twice, or not at all. Sad.

The man behind the popular Dad's Guide to WDW website just posted this regarding his opinions on the new upcharge stuff that will soon be unveiled at Magic Kingdom. It's an open letter calling out Iger for basically putting money over populus.

http://www.dadsguidetowdw.com/what-are-you-thinking-an-open-letter-to-bob-iger.html

What do you think? Is the poster right in his ranting? Or is he just yelling at a tornado?

And also, let's watch this thread well. I don't want certain people (*cough*RonnieHare*cough*) using this to spread his bull.
The guy who runs that site is a pretty disgusting totally homophobic jerk, so whatever opinion he spouts means nothing to me.
