Is 2014/15 going to be the years of a million changes? When I saw that shark reef was possibly being closed permanently, I had a fit. Lemme guess, an underwater Frozen Spectacular show is going in it's place? WDW is getting fascinated with change, too much of it IMO.

If this is true i'm totally bummed. This is one of the things I would tell friends about when I returned to the midwest that thought Disney was just for kids. They would always be amazed and want to try it.

"Disneyland is something that will never be finished. It's something that I can keep developing. It will be a live, breathing thing that will need change. A picture is a thing, once you wrap it up and turn it over to Technicolor, you're through. Snow White is a dead issue with me. But I can change the park, because it's alive."- Walt Disney

That's true, but it seems that all WDW is doing lately is closing attractions without any real plans to replace them. The exception being Frozen in Epcot and Avatarland which was announced in 2011. Disney is not re-investing in WDW, unless you think MDE is a huge benefit to guests. Frankly, they should stop charging full admission to Epcot, since it's turning into a shopping mall. I also think admission to DHS should be reduced since they keep closing attractions.

All things change. It is the one constant in life. While it is a mistake to eliminate all old or classic attractions and rides, the parks must keep evolving with new attractions based on more current likes and interests or they become uninteresting and stale. ( I'm not using Frozen as an example; with that one, enough is enough, already. However in another year or so when something new comes along it will have a much smaller presence in the parks.)

While we like the older attractions and sorely miss some of them, we also go back to Disney to see what is new

Do you think a closure without replacement was what Walt was talking about? How about replacing a highly unique and beloved attraction with a water slide like that found at any water park in the country (assuming we get anything at all?).

I'll be fondly remembering Walt quotes when and if Disney announces something that is truly better than what was there before.

Is it possible that Walt meant "improve" or "add to" when he said "change"? I cannot fathom he meant "detract from", "diminish", or "fundamentally ruin" his park when he said it was alive and he could change it. Isn't this what most parents/guardians do to their children/charges? Can we call DFS on TDO?

What evolution is occurring in the parks? I see Disney announcing more hard ticket parties and now they're evolving into having hard ticket events within hard ticket events! The spots I used to stake out for fireworks are occupied by dessert parties. I feel like I am paying more an getting less. Fantasyland, IMO was disappointing. It's beautiful, but it really didn't add anything truly unique and it took a really long time to build. When I compare DLR to WDW, I think WDW s getting the short end of the stick.

Change IS necessary, but when they close an attraction it should quickly be replaced with something of the same or better quality. Some things do get replaced, but it may take years and, unfortunately, some places remain empty.
We are definitely getting shortchanged when there are fewer attractions and closed places to eat while, at the same time, the crowds keep increasing.
And, finally, definite agreement that so many extra cost parties are makiing planning for a FULL day with a regular ticket alnost impossible. You need to reserve dining and even fast passes long before dates of the parties are released. So there you are with a very hard to get dinner reservation, but they are going to kick you out of the park early.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
It better be the year of a million changes..

I personally think Disney needs to close HS and EPCOT altogether for a full year and make a spectacular re-opening for them.
