What are the chances of getting the role you want as a CP?

So I just did my interview today and sent in all the paper work. I really want to do attractions, and specified that to the recruiter, but I also checked off a bunch of other things like hopper (which includes custodial and qsfb) as well as recreation as a 'just in case' to get me in. She asked me quetions mostly about attractions, recreation, and asked me to do a math problem which she was shocked I did so fast. I also heard, after I mailed in my paper work, that no matter what your top choice is, if you check off qsfb or custodial you will end up with one of the two. Anyone know if I have any chance at all for attractions or if I should just suck it up and take what I get?

And one more quick question. Right now I'm at UCF about 30 minutes from disney. If I get in the CP I'll just take online classes or something, but will this hurt my chances of getting in? I know they like taking people from all over and have different backgrounds so would they really want to take someone who could just as easily be a part time CM? I haven't met anyone on campus who has done the program and my advisor had no idea what it even was.

Just a few points-

You are right, if you checked off QSFB or custodial... especially QSFB... they will most likely put you in those roles. However, if you checked off "Hopper", but not QSFB or custodial, you should be ok.

I've been with several CP groups, and I've never heard of a single person in the "hopper" program. If they do, they were on the 8 month program and changed their job once halfway through. The reason is changing your role every 2 months or so is a huge hassle and a waste of training, which iin some locations, can take almost a week.

It sounds like, since you expressed interest in attractions and recreation, theres a better chance you'll most likely get one of those roles. However, the specific location you get placed in is entirely random.

Being at UCF shouldn't affect you at all, since they pretty much always need CP's. However, since you live so close, I'm not sure it would be worth "sticking it out" if they offer you a role you don't want. Part of the reason so many CP's stick it out with undesirable roles is because they get to move far away and live on their own in Orlando, but you pretty much already have that.

Besides, you could always just go to casting and apply for a part time position, this way you can actually get say in where you want to work.

Thanks for that perspective, you really made some good points. But your right, if I'm stuck with a job I don't want it's really not that big of a deal to just decline and try again next semester since I'm already living in orlando. I just want to eventually do the CP since the engineering class sounds really interesting and would prefer to have a job I won't hate (basically anything but custodial or qsfb) in between.
I worked at a Panera Bread for two years and then was a waitress. I'm definitly over working with food.

When are you hoping to start your CP?

I love panera bread!!

I was actually planning to do it Spring 09 but just found out last week that one class I need to take is only offered in Spring, which is why I applied so late for Fall 2008. If I had known earlier, I know I should have done my research, I definitely would have applied in like February so I wouldn't have even had to worry about all this.
