Wet Winters - 2015 and El Nino

Any one been at WDW in December and been hit with rain? All this talk of El Nino coming up has me really hoping for a dry week when I'm there. I can do cold, and I can do wet, but I really don't wanna do cold and wet.

Anyone had a wet winter visit? How did it go?

We have. Wore raincoats over our sweaters and carried on .

Lol I figured so it's just like being rainy in the summer just with an extra layer under the poncho who'd have thought? I was so excited for hardly any rain but I guess it'll still be just fine! Thanks!

Raincoats are better than ponchos because they provide an extra layer of warmth. Pack footwear that resists sogginess (puddles that saturate your feet are a real bummer when it is cold!) And then have fun...it's Disney in December, a great way to celebrate the season!

We often go in December. One trip it rained 7 days out of 8 and that was not just a little rain, some days it poured down that year. We just carried on. I'm not going to spend my vacation, especially at Disney, sitting in a hotel room. But on the other hand, we've also had it be 85, or below freezing. Sometimes on the same trip. I always recommend to anyone going in December to pack a little of everything and then layer if you have to. I agree with raincoats over ponchos for that extra layer. Also poncho's blow around if it gets windy. Always find Epcot to be particularly windy, especially around Spaceship Earth.

Only been to WDW once in December and we had fantastic weather, my Aunt went a year later and it rained nearly all their trip. I am planning for all weather conditions for my trip this Dec just in case. But hoping for a little sun lol!

I only went in December once. I was at WDW through December 7th in 2010. There was no rain or little rain, but it was cold for most the nights there. What I mean by cold at night is record low temperatures at night. I had nights that were in the low 30's even with one or two of them being in the high 20's at night. During the day, it was in the 60's or low 70's. What I did was I wore pants instead of shirts and wore full sleeve shirts at the time at night. What I did was, I changed changed closes middle of the day in the hotel room. The only problem was I only brought a light fall jacket instead of a heavy winter jacket.

We went Thanksgiving week last year and are going the first week of Dec this year. It absolutely poured ALL day the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We had hoodies, rain jackets so we didn't feel really wet, our biggest problem was SHOES!! We were wearing tennis shoes and the walkway entrance to Epcot was full of water, close to three inches. Since it's not on a hill, the water really had nowhere to drain. We walked through it and then spent the day walking around EPCOT. All that would have been fine, IF WE'D HAD A PAIR OF FLIP FLOPS in our bag to have walked through the water with. Because we went to MK for EMH that night and had to walk through another GIANT puddle near the monorail exit to get into the MK. The benefit of a rainy day was that there were literally 3 people in front of us for Space Mountain at 1145 pm but our feet really hurt. So this year, I'm carrying flip flops in my bag for when I have to walk through water deluges!

I've been to WDW twice over the Thanksgiving holiday and found that week is kind of chilly for me. The first year we went, it was cool and rainy, not a deluge but it would lightly rain off and on most of the days. We just did ponchos over hoodies and we had rainboots. The second year it was in the 80's during the day except there was a 2 day cold snap when it dropped to freezing, We just bundled up. Plan on taking a variety of clothing to accommodate the extremes in weather. You can be in shorts one day and need your mittens the next.
