Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for what to do with a wet phone battery! My friend's dog knocked my phone into a chair that was soaking in Coke. We believe it may have been in it for about 30 mins to an hour.

The phone was soaked in it and the battery as well. Any ideas on what i should do to possible save the battery?

I've dropped a phone in a glass of beer and managed to almost fully save it. I took the battery out and rinsed the phone thoroughly with hot water. It took a long time to dry out, but eventually it worked. The screen was a little blotchy and sometimes a key wouldn't work, but it could dial out and send/receive texts until I replaced it. Just make sure the battery is out before you rince.

The battery itself should be fine with a good rinse and towel dry, most all are sealed units.

put the phone in a bowl of uncooked rice and leave it there for 24 hours or longer..and it should absorb the liquid..I know many who have had this work....not sure of the stickiness with coke,,and try the battery also..

good luck!

you need to take the battery from the phone and you can try the rice deal. I have had a phone go through a wash cycle and it's still dead. There is a dot on the phone inside the compartment, it's suppose to be white, if it's red, you are probably totally dead with no recovery in site.

My phone went underwater (I was riding in a boat that capsized) and it never recovered. As mentioned above, the amount of time that passes (I was not at home, so there was a long delay) and whether or not the phone was turned on (mine was) seems to make a difference.

I tried all of the above (once I got home) to no avail.

Right, now as i type this the phone has been in rice for the past 3 1/2 hours. I personally, think there is hope for the phone working but, the battery being just plain dead.

When I first saw the phone emerged in the coke. I took it out and dried everything down. SO I tried turning it on and both of the two screens showed the normal signs of a phone turning on after a quick white screen appearing. Then the normal homepage showed up for 5 seconds until it powered down because of dead battery.

We tried to charge it but all we got was the Verizon and LG sign that said "downloading...do not unplug" and we put it in the rice soon after.

SO maybe it is just the battery or maybe the whole phone.

Inside, it was orange...not the complete red just a pale orange. So im hoping maybe the phone can recover.
