Was looking for a thread to post some new news, and couldn't find the right one. And since the project just started, thought a clearly devoted one to track the progress would be helpful.

The former Anabelle has been totally razed, and basic ground preparation is taking place.

Alas, the website folks need to get the message...

But here is the news...

Wincome Group has announced the appointment of Carmine Iommazzo as the General Manager for The Westin Anaheim Resort, the under construction four-diamond hotel expected to open in late 2019. In this new role, Iommazzo will oversee all aspects of the luxurious new hotel, including its 613 stylish guestrooms, 101 suites, three restaurants, two bars including a rooftop lounge, and more than 42,000 square feet of state of the art meeting space.

Iommazzo, born and raised in Australia, fell in love with hospitality while originally studying accounting, and although he had a knack for numbers, his true passion rested in the food and service industry. He earned a diploma in 1997 at the International College of Hotel Management in Adelaide, a joint project of the Swiss Hotel Association, Le Cordon Bleu, and the Government of South Australia.

“I’m delighted to be on board leading the brand-new Westin Anaheim Resort,” said Iommazzo. “This hotel will bring a new level of luxury to the Anaheim market, and I look forward to working with the leadership of Wincome Group to position the Westin for true success.”<<

OK, at an event at the Hilton. The West in site has a crane and they have started putting up walls for the center core. Just a story or two tall. Also the Construction wall has signs staying opening Summer 2020.

On Tuesday's council agenda is the approval to use TOT taxes to add a 4th lane on Eastbound Katella from West Street to the Convention Center, so basically the road in front of the Westin. Project is about $2 million. Another $5 million will be used for improved electronic signage for traffic control.

Projects were picked by "Visit Anaheim".

Also on the agenda is the approval for 18 bus stops in Anaheim to get upgrade by the OCTA. (OCTA indentured the busiest 100 countywide).

Many of those stops are in the Resort District, including the two on Harbor at Disneyland's Pedestrian entrance. The city might have to pay for some artistic upgrades, but would be matched by the OCTA. So the majority of funds are coming from the OCTA.

The JW Marriott is also progressing nicely at Anaheim GardenWalk.

All the other Hotel Projects are progressing nicely.

There is also the yearly GardenWalk status report on the Agenda. It made all the required progress. It has the deadline dates. The Timeshare should start building next year. The status of the 2nd AGW hotel is unknown, and will wait until the first lawsuits against the ALWI take place.
