We're losing an hour of magic!

As Lorena Bobbit once said "It won't be long now." We leave Sat. morn for WDW. I never understood the time change thing. I mean I know why they do it, to give the farmers more time in the fields, but there are some parts of Indiana and Arizona who don't change the time at all. :veryconfu

I don't know they way I think of it, you'll be getting to the magic sooner. If you lose an hour in the middle of the night, it makes morning get here faster.:sohappy:

Don't worry about losing that hour - I enjoyed the extra hour I got last October, so you can rest easy knowing that hour wasn't wasted. Of course, it messed up the kids big time... it only took us a few months to get them back on their sleep schedules.

We get frustrated when we drive to WDW and cross to the Eastern Time Zone. I hate losing that valuable hour for my Disney time. We always try to go around October fall-back time so that we do not have to change our watches. We just keep our time and fall-back when we get home.

That was probably the only advantage of living in South Bend, IN, not having to change your clocks. But not anymore...

Indy here! And yeah, this is gonna take some getting used to. Which night does it happen again? Between Sat and Sun?

Ugh.

Change your clocks before going to bed on Sat. and you'll be on the right time when you wake up on Sun. :king:

Time is relative and dynamic, it is not fixed. You are not losing anything.

That is pretty much what I was going to say. But we do lose an hour of sleep......until October. It is unbelievable how many people actually believe that by changing CLOCKS, we actually gain daylight! THINK about it, people!!!

We have this section in our local paper called "Sound Off" where readers can call in and "sound off" about things....pretty much anything. A few years ago, there was an article about "them" doing away with DST. You would not believe how many people called in and said, "We can't do away with DST. The farmers need the extra hour of sunlight for their crops." How riduculous is that??!!!! It is my understanding (and I could be wrong) that DST was intituted so that the daylight hours are shifted to the evening so the children of the farmers could be help with the crops for a longer time when they got out of school. Has anyone else heard this? Does anyone know the real reason for DST?
