So this will be our 5th year of going to WDW and our 7th trip. I moved our trip from October 4-12 to September due to the possibility of no free dining. Well, my wife just called me and said we had received a pin in the mail. Ah well, maybe next time......
Not that we get them over here, but can you explain what this pin thing is again.?

Is there anything special that needs to be done to be on the mailing list for a PIN? I know its completely random and luck of the draw but as long as we have gone to WDW in the past and we are on their mailing list we are good to go, right?

No one really knows for sure what triggers a PIN or what data base they pull from, but here are a few suggestions that seem to help.

1. Make sure you have an account with all of your correct contact info on the official Disney site.
2. If you have a future trip in mind, quote it online, save it to your account, but do not book it.
3. Order a travel planing DVD.
4. Do steps 1-3 for every adult in the house.

Not sure if this is the reason, but we have been fortunate enough to get one 3 different times, and each time was after having done a survey in the parks when asked. The times that I haven't done one, I haven't gotten a pin. I also told my friend to do one when we were on my bachelor party, and he just got a pin in the mail yesterday. So I don't know, maybe it helps too.

Ok here is that what I did and I think why we got one. I went on the disney site and did the thing were we planned the trip, but I put for staying off site. Then I just left it there. So im not sure if it had anything to do with it , but this was our first pin we have ever recieved

We need time for things to happen.

I do all of the steps above, all the time (because I can't help myself) and get at least one every single year.

This was the first year we actually got a bounceback PIN via email while we were still on site. It was for 30% off moderates if we booked before we checked out so since we need to book a resort the night before our cruise we took advantage and booked POR.
