"Well it's about time, Mom" PTR

Sounds like a great trip! The best thing about early flights is you'll get to WDW earlier. We always book the earliest flight and have to leave out house at 4am. One thing for sure - you will sleep well that first night. :)

Aaaand....Mission Control we have a problem.

So, I might have to postpone our trip. And I have no idea how Disney will handle this. We are supposed to leave in 17 days, and my mother had a stroke two days ago. Luckily, it wasn't a massive stroke and she is recovering rapidly. However, she needs to have surgery to unblock a severely blocked carotid artery and it looks like it will happen in the next 7-12 days. Also, when she is discharged, she will be living with me for a little while. Luckily, I do have siblings who can step in and help and stay with her and another family member has offered to come in to help while my family and I go on vacation.

But, is it right to go on vacation either right before or right after Mom has this major surgical procedure? Even if my conscious will allow me to go, will I feel like enjoying myself while wwe are at the magical place on earth? Will it feel magical for us? I just don't know.

I guess I had better figure out what Disney will allow me to do. I'm certainly less than 45 days out and my trip is long paid off.

*sigh*

Sorry to hear about your Mother. I would call Disney right away so you at least know where you stand.

Good luck.

Oh, no! I hope surgery goes well. How long should she be in the hospital afterwards? I'm sure she would not want you to change your plans if everyone else is around to be with her.

Right now, I regally don't know. So much is going on so fast. Once surgery is scheduled, the timetable will be a bit more predictable.

As for Disney, they can move my reservation for $50, cancel it and give back all but $200 or hope and pray that we can work all of this out in the next 7 days - before the 10 day prior mark.

The best news is that Mom is recovering from the stroke quite well. It's the pending surgery that worries me.

I've been there with both parents, not surgery, just the strokes. Since she's recovering well so far, keep those happy thoughts.
