Well here I thought I had our time picked out(booking tomorrow) and we were planning May 3-10 but then my teenager says "Mom, what about your birthday?" So we start looking April 3-10(my bday is 4/4) but I am not sure if we would be hitting Spring break for that area(or local schools) since Easter is just 3/27. Riley is homeschooled so we don't have to worry about that but I chose May because I was thinking crowds would be lower(than Spring Break) and because it would put us there on my Mom's bday(she passed in 1990 just days after my 21st bday so my birthday has always been rough for the last 25ys, yes I know, 25 yrs but it was an unexpected thing and then dad passed 14mo so yes, I still hate that time. LOL) like we were in DLR in 2012(that was amazing fun!). So anyway, first week in April v first week in May?
And one more question, we are using @KINGDOM Konsultants and if a promotion pops up for Spring time, if the trip splits the promo dates(say it starts on 4/5 and we arrive 4/3) does any part of the stay qualify for the promo or would we need to shift dates(not opposed to shifting).
This is our first ever trip to WDW and the plan is me, my husband, our 17yr old son and our 13yr old great-niece(am I really old enough to have a "great" niece? OY!)

The first week of April will be considerably more crowded than the first week of May. Early April is peak spring break season for schools in the southeast, and I have been that week many times, including this year which happened to include Easter :in pain:. Room rates are also higher in April than in May.

May is my favorite month to visit due to weather (warm but the miserable humidity has not kicked in, so less chance of thunderstorms) and fewer crowds (though the parks are still busy.)

@Kingdom Konsultant will keep watch for all discounts for you, should one arise after you've booked. If part of your stay qualifies for a room discount, it will be applied.

I always go the first week of May and it's one of my fav times of the year! The dates you had of May 3-10 would be great. Flower and garden is ending and it's right before Star Wars weekends begin. The crowds are pretty moderate as well. Now, as for the dates you are looking at for April. My bday is April 10 and I've gone a few times over my bday. It will be more crowded for sure. It will be spring break so expect it. Weather wise will be about the same.

I think we will stick to May. More of a chance of all of us making it and further from Easter. Thought about sometime in March but was not sure of crowds due to things like cheer competitions or things like that. Thanks!!

We have my husband's birthday Feb 12th, our anniversary Mar 23rd(way too close to Easter next year), then my Bday and then Mother's Day. LOL I always joke that I planed the wedding in March so I could have Valentines, Annversary, Birthday and Mother's Day all in a row. LOL

There is usually a cheerleading competition the first weekend of May, but unless you stay at a value resort you prob won't see much of them. They were there saturday & Sunday when I went this past May but wasn't bad at all
