Well behaved British kids

My DH and I pride ourselves on how polite our DD is. We get compliments on it all the time. She always says please, thank you, excuse me etc. I would not tolerate her being rude to any one. Sometimes actually she is a little too nice. And you can be too nice at times. She never disrespects her elders. I'm very proud of her. :D

I was sitting on a bench at Epcot a few years ago next to a British family. Their little girl, probably about 5, said to me "May we have a look at your pins then?" I thought that was so cute. Her younger sister kept amusing herself by sticking her finger into the blades of my portable fan (the Disney kind with the soft vinyl blades). They certainly made the wait for the bus in the hot July sun more bearable.

I am pleasantly surprised to read this. Obviously I see a lot of the less desirable brats that live in the UK permanently, but I nice to know a significant enough number have been well behaved enough to get these compliments.

I cannot believe you beat me to it on this one, MayKit! I was just in the middle of composing a post on how great I think the UK visitors are. There are always tons of them in DW in October when we go (school holidays I think). We find the British to be friendly, courteous and and extremely fun-loving. And you are absolutely correct about the kids - so well-behaved!
We have struck up many a conversation with UK visitors while waiting in line and have never come away with negative impressions.
You guys are the best!

There is a half term week long school holiday in October, so that may be part of the reason. Also, it's a lot cheaper to come over that time of year.

Whilst we may have a depressing number of yobs ruining things over here, we still have a lot of folk that are always fun-loving. Glad you got to meet them :D

It probably doesn't hurt that most Brits think we're all armed to the teeth here in the US and are convinced that gunplay is a normal, everyday routine for the majority of us. When I lived in the UK, I let a friend borrow my flat when I was away on vacation (to WDW no less), and when I returned he and his mates had ransacked the place "looking for my guns". They could not be convinced that I was not in possession of any guns... despite firearms being very effectively banned in the UK. But I was only angry because they'd drunk all my best booze and nicked a few of my military uniform items, later returned of course, with a longstanding credit at the local pub (one of the culprits was the owner of that pub:D ).

But lest anyone think this is an anti-British diatribe, one of the things I love about a Disney vacation is that it seems that half the tourist population in Orlando is British so I always feel very much at home.
