Weird hours at Magic Kingdom today 11/17

So today I look at the My Disney Experience App and it shows that Magic Kingdom is open today 8am to 4:30pm. I assume this is due to some special event, and no I do not mean Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. When I look at Friday's times I see that MK is open 8am to 7pm and then MVMCP special ticketed event is 7pm to 12am. So any ideas what's up tonight at MK. I've just never really seen it close so early, even on a week day.

Why would this require such a heavy state trooper presence?

I was getting nervous something had happened driving through there before with all of the state troopers there.

They aren't state troopers they are Orange County Sheriff's Department and Disney contracts with them for security and employs off duty OC officers.

Just speculating, but Disney's own security staff are CMs and to let the attend the party you'd replace them with off duty OC officers.

My mom and her partner were on the monorail yesterday with a CM who explained the party a bit to them. She told them that there are 200+ employees who have been working since MKs opening 45 years ago and they were being transported to the party my limo. The CM also told them that Main Street is lined with food drinks including alcoholic beverages. Sweet!

Nope they were FHP. Kinda hard to mix up an OC Sheriff's cruiser with an FHP cruiser.
