Pre-Trip WEIGHT LOSS, MONEY SAVING, P.A. SCHOOL! DISNEY 2017!

HI FRIENDS!! :) GUESS WHO FOUND OUT SHE'S GOING BACK TO WALT DISNEY WORLD NEXT YEAR!!

"But JROGUE," you may say, "how can this be? You just took your sister trip and didn't you think you might not be back for a while after that?" Well friends, you're right. But little did I know, my parents and boyfriend were all insanely jealous of Jessica and I while we were at WDW. So much so that they decided we need to take a trip there next year!! Needless to say, Jess and I couldn't contain our excitement.

If you want to check out that completed report, you can find that here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/completed-our-first-sister-trip-report-june-11-15th-2016.914576/

We don't know exactly when we will be able to go. This is where my PTR name factors in! My sister has applied to a Physician Assistant (PA) school, and when we go on this trip depends on whether or not she gets into the school. If she gets in, then we go in May. If she doesn't get in, then we go in October. However, if she gets in and we go in May, we will have to work it around her graduation and finals AND Memorial Day weekend. We could push it back, but I don't want to go again in June because it was too hot so we'll see. We won't know if she gets into the school or not until this October, so that is when the REAL nitty gritty and booking will commence!

One thing that I do know for sure is no matter when we go ...We are going back HOME! WE ARE STAYING AT THE POLYNESIAN RESORT! YAY!!! :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

More TK soon, as I will explain what the rest of my PTR name comes from! A brief summary: I am going to lose weight for our next trip (at least around 30lbs) and I am saving money for it -- I'll tell you how!

So, next up: Weight loss, money saving, and the WHO of the trip!

This is all very encouraging and looks like you're getting your life in good order. :)

You asked about savings tips. Well, mine isn't rocket science or anything, but it is a bit helpful. (Every little bit saved is helpful!!) I use cash to pay for many things 9and avoid using my credit cards as much as possible). Even if an item comes to say, $1.05, I'll give the clerk $2.00, to get the change.

ALL my change each week goes into a jar. When the jar is full (maybe every 2 months--it's not a huge jar), I take it to the bank where they have a free coin sorter, and I bring the slip to the teller. Usually, I end up with approx. $35. Then, I go to Target and take out $15 in cash from my purse and buy a $50 Disney gift card with that, and the $35 from the coins I cashed in. Generally, I end up with 4 cards each year ($200), and it's fairly painless, in terms of saving. Since I don't do any table service meals, I use the $200 to help with QS meals, snacks, etc. (I only go to WDW for 3-4 days.)
Thanks! & That's an awesome way to save :) I've always heard if you have a Target Red Card you get 5% off of gift cards as well, so maybe one day I'll head over and do that! :)

We do this too but take it one step further. We buy a $50 gift card at Kroger each week with our Disney visa then apply the GC to the vacation account. Not only do we get double rewards points on the card but we end up getting 4x on the fuel points at Kroger saving us on gas too. We've already gotten our first $20 GC from the savings account too!
That's awesome!! And great that you get to save on gas as well :) I didn't even think of that, or realize you could apply a Disney GC to the account! Thanks!

Good luck with your vacation planning, @jrogue, fellow New Yorker! I used LoseIt! to drop 30 pounds a few years ago, it's a great tool.
Haha thank you! & LoseIt is my FAVORITE! :D I feel like it's so much easier than some of the other ways to track and follow along with your plan!

Oh, just thought I'd mention that I did see some of the Macy's 4th of July show (with fireworks) on TV last night. Sara Bareilles' performance was at the beginning of the broadcast, and I remembered how you said they "taped" it for showing, for the 4th TV show. She was very good (I'm not familiar with her, as I don't listen to music often), but I did enjoy her singing. Looked like all the people in the audience up on that roof deck were having a great time. Glad you got to experience that in person.

:) It was definitely a great time! I'm glad you got the chance to catch it on TV. I've never had the chance to see her in concert before, but oh man does she have the voice of an angel. Her voice sounds very good on recordings (CDs, on TV) but in person? It took my breath away!

YAY! Welcome!! :D

I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July! My family and I sure did.

My mom and I sported our best American Disney shirts for the occasion. The one she is wearing is her early birthday present. :) And of course y'all know Jess! She wasn't in any kind of Disney American spirit, but at least she was all red white and blue! (just realized you can see my dad in the background talking to a friend  he was missing out on the Disney American shirt fun!)

While Vinny didn't have a cool American Disney shirt, he definitely had a super patriotic one!

He's sitting here now teasing me about the Forums and how often I've been on them and writing my trip reports. "Day 73 since I've been to Disney ... my boyfriend still isn't Mickey Mouse..." :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Saw the pick of the bed work your BF did...was that the metal terminator piece from the June loot crate? Are we bonded not just by Disney but by loot crate as well?

OMG!!! I must have your Mom's shirt! Literally thats the only part of the Muppets 3D I like - when he says "a salute to all nations but mostly America!" Where did you get it????????
The shop Disney parks app!! I just ordered it a few weeks ago, so they probably still have some left. That's one of our favorite parts as well! That and "it's a glorious three hour finale" "you have a minute and a half!!" :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

YES!! hahah! I am so glad you caught that. Loot Crate is awesome! How long have you had your subscription?

Two years of loot crate and I get the dx as well. It is great. if there is fandom I don't like one of my friends immediately claims it for themselves. I am like geek Santa twice a month.
Haha I am the same way! I share the box with Vinny (my boyfriend) and it works out so perfectly. Anything I like I keep (like the Deadpool Tacos shirt!!) and he gets the rest. :) Unless I know he will love something, so then I pass it along immediately.

I'm doing the same thing before my next trip! It's hard now, but I know I will be able to enjoy my indulgences when I get there! Trying to save money for Disney too;) good luck!!
Yes exactly!! It's so much more motivating when there's that kind of reward at the end :) Thank you! Best of luck to you as well!

Congrats getting healthier and planning a Disney trip 2 of my favorite things. Good luck with both
Thank you!! :)

@jrogue ...I do the same as most people above...We too save coins all year long for Disney. When we're ready we cash the coins in and deposit them into our checking acct. Go to Target...buy Dis gift cards for 5% off with the red card, then UPLOAD THOSE to your Disney savings acct to go towards earning your $20 ;)

Hi all! Haven't posted in a while, but figured I'd pop in with an update :)

Weight loss is pretty much at a standstill. I've been finding little to no motivation to go to the gym. However, my friend and I have been meeting once a week for personal training, so at least there has been that! I've been playing a lot of Pokemon go, so I've been walking a ton as well. My steps have gone up to at least 15,000 a day.

My problem has really been my eating. I need to get better at limiting the amount of food I can have at meals.

However, the saving money for Disney part has been super successful and I have about $500 saved up! So, essentially one night at the Polynesian :hilarious:

Next week my family and Vinny's family are going to Wildwood, NJ! I'll be posting some updates from there, since it has a nice family friendly boardwalk and some rides

@ScarletBegonias thank you for checking in!! :)
