That is the BEST time to vacation to Disney. This will be our third time during this time period. You get the tradition of spending Christmas at home, then leave the next day for a WDW vacation. And b/c the decorations are up fulll blast everywhere at Disney, both the Christmas magic and true meaning is only amplified. Then you have the excitement boiling up for the impending new year. So fun!! The place is as festive and crowded as ever, but always worth it.

And the day after Christmas just happens to be my birthday, and I have celebrated my 20th, 21st, and now my 22nd years at WDW. So it is extra special.

And remember:
-nightly snowfalls at Magic Kingdom
-CandleLight Processional at Epcot
-Osborne Lights at MGM, with snow
-decorations themed to each land/theme at parks and resorts.
-NEW YEARS!
:xmas:

extremely crowded but extremely fun

wdwfan30,

the parks will be EXTREMELY crowded during your trip, but you will still have a blast! We go every year at the exact same time that you are asking about and we always have a great time. This is the most crowded time period for Disney World, but by planning and using fastpass and priority seatings, you should be able to do everything you want to do. The decorations are great. I especially love the lights at EPCOT, and being in the Animal KIngdom after dark is fun (Disney kept the AK open to 9:00 last year!). So, have fun and if you have any more questions just ask.

The week after Christmas is VERY BUSY! But, it's very neat- all the decorations, the whole Disney Christmas atmosphere. This will be our 10th trip (in the past 11 years) during this same week... and we love it.

Because of the crowd levels... make sure you get your PS's taken care of prior to your trip. If you wait to get them when you arrive, you may not get the time you want or the restaurant you want. Also, make sure to utilize the FastPass system. Keep in mind- the past couple of visits, I've noticed that rides like Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, etc. run out of FastPasses early on in the day.

Our highlight of this week- the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. They have been awesome in the past when they were on Residential street and I'm anxious to see how they look on the new Big City Street facades. We like the lights not only because they are truly breathtaking, but because the Osbornes are family! (my dh's uncle and aunt!) Maybe we'll see you there!!! :xmas: :xmas:

But once again... it's busy, busy, busy!! (especially New Year's Eve!) Then it will be busy at the resorts on the 2nd as everybody will be checking out!

thanks for all your info it really helps.we have gone 11 years in a row usually in the summer so i figure the crowds will be almost the same (it was packed a few weeks ago) but it will be cooler so it will be much more enjoyable.

christmas v. summer

We've been at Christmas and the first three weeks of June many times, and there is no comparison in crowd levels. The parks seemed empty during the summer but the heat was oppresive. I would take the crowds in trade for the heat any time.
