Wedding party hotel?

Hi All! I have been lurking on this forum for a few months now but this is my first post.

Little background. I am a former Cast Member (98-01) but haven't been back to WDW since. I am planning on getting married in an Escape Wedding in August of 2013. Our immediate family, one of my former managers from the MGM days, and six close friends will be joining us. Because our friends are on rather limited budgets we are paying for their hotel rooms for 3 nights. (doubling up, two in a room). We are leaning towards the moderate resorts.

My question is this- while I was working there my family loved staying at Caribean Beach, but that was over a decade ago. I have read great reviews about POFQ and PORS lately. Given that the group will need to get to the Wedding Pavillion and no one is planning on renting cars transport is also a factor. Where do you think they should stay? What would provide the nicest stay with the least hassle in getting to the ceremony? Any imput would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hey There!

Well, PORS is very romantic and weddingy...additionally, since it is so close to DTD, I am pretty sure you guys could boat there or bus there and get a bus directly to GF.

I would to PORS, personally, as I like the more spread out feel. Congrats btw! :)

Based on what you are looking for, I would say Port Orleans French Quarter. It's the smallest of the Moderate resorts, and only has one bus stop, which is great in my book.

For transport from there to Grand Floridian, the most direct route would be taxi, but that would be an expense. The second best option in my opinion is to take a bus from FQ to Magic Kingdom, walk over to the Resort Monorail, and take that to the Grand Floridian or Polynesian and walk to the wedding pavilion.

Thank you!

I hope my post didn't come across as snooty. The main reason we are using part of the wedding budget to pay for the hotel rooms is that we switched the location of the wedding from the Midwest to WDW after they had agreed to be in wedding. Mainly because I was about to have a breakdown about planning a wedding for our 2 gigantic families. We were at 250 people with just family! We decided to elope with our immediate family and to have a big rollicking backyard party when we get home. Funny how the word "wedding" seems to add zeros to the cost of a party.
