i was thinking of proposing at WDW this year. I am having trouble with where to do it. I have a couple ideas. Below are some of my ideas. Which ones would be a good location?

-During the Wishes fireworks, in the Rose Garden behind Cinderella's Castle

-on the beach of Polynesian Resort, during the fireworks

-near the Cinderella wishing fountain behind the castle

....does anyone else have anymore ideas or locations to propose?

I just got engaged at WDW in May. My DF proposed during dinner at CRT. It was awesome! (I think the main reason was he knew what a great time I would have telling people we got engaged ion Conderellas Castle!!)

i think i've narrowed it down, which sounds best to propose at:

-Rose Garden (Magic Kingdom)
-Cinderella's Wishing Well
-Beauty and the Beast Stage Show (MGM Studios)
-France pavilion (EPCOT)
-during the Wishes fireworks (Magic Kingdom)

My proposal

As for me, I went the more expensive route under the theory of "if you're going to do something, might as well as do it right". I proposed to my fiancee this past April at Cinderella's Royal Table. I had made a reservation there back in October and called in January to make the special arrangements. Because of the special features, it didn't go on my dining plan (which was fine since it freed it up for 2 more sit down meals) and cost $275. Included with that price was the following:
  • Breakfast (with all of the princesses of course visiting us which she loved--my credit to the cast members playing them since they do a fantastic job of staying in character while making sly jokes such as Snow White confessing that she came from "the kingdom of Elyria" which was not to far from us);
  • Photopass photographer on site to snap pictures of my proposal to her;
  • The special presentation (which I'll describe in a moment);
  • Mickey & Minnie engagement pins;
  • An engraved glass slipper with our names on one side, the date on the bottom and a phrase that I dictated on the other side;
  • 2 champaign flutes with the Disney logo on them (we're using these at our reception);
  • Seating at the table in the center next to the window overlooking Fantasy Land (the best seat in the room by the way especially since it was a perfectly sunny morning with no clouds in the sky)
As for the presentation, at the end of the meal, the waitress said that she would bring us our meal and then went back. She came out, winked at me while carrying a covered tray. She then apologized to my gf saying that she had just remembered one last part of the meal and set down the tray in front of her. She removed the cover and revealed a plated covered in rose petals with the glass slipper in the center. The slipper was filled with petals and resting on top was the engagement ring. I then handed my camcorder to the waitress and she started videotaping my proposal which I ended with saying "For some time I have referred to you as my princess. I ask you now to be my queen" (the phrase "will you be my queen?" is what is engraved on the slipper). After my gf said yes (she said "yes" even before I finished the proposal but I kept going), everyone around us started applauding. That was when the waitress went back and got us our goodies.

Expensive? A bit (not too bad considering the free stuff we got) but considering the memories it made, it was worth every penny.

That is a big reason why we're looking forward to going back next year for our honeymoon and, yes, we are most definately wearing the Mickey & Minnie wedding hats.

I'm planning a proposal at the CG Sept 20th, Closest that I could get was 6:10, fireworks are at 8pm.. So we'll at least be able to view them from the viewing deck after dinner.. I'm not sure we can stretch dinner for that long, but I'm going to talk w/ the host or hostess before hand to see what kind of cooperation I can get from the resteraunt.. I was thinking between Dinner and Dessert, and having the Waiter or Hostess bring out the Roses and Small cake for DD8.

my fiancee actually had a different approach to proposing to me. we had known for the longest time we'd get engaged at disney. i know i shouldnt have known. but i knew and although it wasnt a huge secret, i still was beyond shocked for my engagement. we always go to the polynesian to ride the boats and have drinks so we did that on our 4 year anniversary and went on the swings on the beach and looked at the castle for awhile and it was really romantic and perfect but i felt sick all of a sudden from the pina coladas (it was too sweet, and the weather was soo hot i got dehydrated) so we went inside and i said he ruined the perfect opportunity, and he said that he was going to propose to me that moment that i ruined it (i suck!!!) there was a woman in front of us watching us so he felt uncomfortable.

so anyway we go to epcot in a hurry (we had dinner reservations at california grill, nice window seat before the fireworks!) and im like "ok whats the game plan" and he said to go on spaceship earth, norway pavillion (our favorite) and some place special. so we go on spaceship earth, and at the absolute top of the "golf ball" where the shooting stars scene is, he pulls out the ring and says "now that we're on top of the world, you know how i feel when i'm with you, will you marry me" although it was loud and i didnt hear it completely the first time, it was so romantic because it was so thoughtful and original! the worst part though, is that we didnt get our own car, and when we went back the next day, we got our own car, and exactly where he proposed, we got stuck on the ride for 10 minutes! we just laughed about it the whole time.

oh here's a suggestion, go get a leave a legacy picture taken! we did that and now we can't wait to go look for our picture and it's a part of disney now!! :-D

whatever you do, be original, and think about HER.. think about what you guys have together and maybe an inside joke or something. i know spaceship earth wasnt my top idea of a proposal, but it was one of our favorite rides and he turned it into THE perfect proposal.

another piece of advice, GET THE BUTTONS!! the ones that say congrats or whatever with bride and groom mickey and minnie. we got that since we were celebrating our anniversary & engagement, and we got on rides faster, we got congratulated everywhere! it was so much fun. also when making dining reservations, tell every place what you're doing. they'll usually do something special for you. at rose & crown they signed a poster for us and sang all you need is love. at california grill & i forgot what other restaurant we got free dessert. we bought the hats but wont be wearing them until our honeymoon. even though i'll be working there, we definetely have to stay at the polynesian and go to at least epcot where the magic all started

p.s. if your g.f. loves belle, check into character dining places other than cinderella's royal table and they have her. i don't remember where but if you call up 407-WDW-DINE they'll let you know.

I proposed on the beach at the Grand Floridian with the wedding pavillion behind me. Living close made this easy, as I had several of my friends there in advance with my camcorder. As I was walking around with Melissa (we stopped at the wedding pavillion because we had always wanted to see it), I took her to the beach, and by that time my friends were on the beach as well. I then gave my camera to them (the camcorder was filming already) and had them take a picture of me. After that, I insisted they took another. It was then, that I had them count to three, but pause on 2. It was at that moment that I dropped on my knee and had the best pictures taken with me down giving her the ring and the place where we're getting married as our background.

It's another location to think about, and I wish you nothing but the best! GOOD LUCK!

I hope you don't mind a long post but I also proposed at WDW and I feel like if you can afford it no amount of $$ is too much for such a special event.

My plan was extremely elaborate, first because we visit WDW so often and my fiancé catches on to everything so quickly.

I had to think of a way to get her to WDW just a few months after we had just been there with family. At that time we had started checking into DVC memberships. So when we got home I found some Mickey stationary and sent a formal letter to ourselves saying we had won a 3 night stay with a special dinner one night a CRT at the MK. Plus the required tour of the DVC properties, etc. I wont go into all the details but it was pretty official looking and she fell for it.

We stayed at POFQ (on Disney's tab she thought) and on our 2nd night we were supposed to arrive at the MK in the evening for dinner. I had contacted www.giftsofalifetime.com to help me carry out the rest of my plan.

When we arrived, i knew if I said I had to go to the restrooms at Town Hall she would also take the bait. When she went in, a Pixie from Giftsofalifetime was waiting for me with a rose and the first of 5 typed poems to lead her to her next journey. When she came out of the restroom she saw me standing there with a rose and I handed her the first clue/poem. It said to go to the wishing well, at the well she had to make a wish and then another pixie arrived with another rose and clue/poem to head to the next spot. We rode the carousel (She was on Cindy's horse of course-for those that don't know its the only horse with a golden ribbon on its tail) she read the next clue/poem and then on to Poohs (her favorite). There was a stuffed pooh waiting with another rose and clue/poem. And not to bore you it eventually lead her back to the wishing well where the last rose and a glass slipper/with ring was sitting on the well. I popped the question, we were lucky or maybe it was my helpful pixies but no one was around when we got to the wishing well, we felt like we were all alone. Afterward we had dinner at CRT and watched the fireworks from our table.

When we got back to our room my pixies again had decorated the room (rose petals, twinkle lights, champagne, the works.)
Wow what a evening...and best of all it was calling for rain all night and it stopped as we were on the monorail to the MK.

Some other day I will do a thread about what we are currently planning. I know this sounds crazy, but we are planning a surprise wedding (for our guest) at WDW. They will be thinking they are coming for a surprise 3 day weekend birthday bash!. I will let everyone know if we can eventually pull it off!!!

So an answer to your question...where to pop the question. Of course I would always choose the MK. But most of all make it personal and tie in what means the most to the two of you.

There is a spot in France at Epcot, where Belle and the Beast do meet and greets that has the stained glass panels that tells the story of Beauty & The Beast. See these 2 links http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ep/e_fran.htm & http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ep/shop7.jpg That could be a very romantic spot. Disney would probably help but I also highly recommend www.giftsofalifetime.com whatever you can dream up they can probably help you pull it off.

i was planning on proposing in front of the castle,but i found out that they will be disassembling and painting the castle the time we're going to be vacationing there. I don't want to propose at the castle with cranes in the "background". I think i'm going to have to propose somewhere else. Perhaps I could do it at:

-Polynesian Resort (overlooking the fireworks from the beach)
-France Pavilion (in the small "maze garden")
-Magic Kingdom (Storybook Garden)
-Magic Kingdom (Cinderella's Wishing Well)
-rent a boat on Seven Seas Lagoon and propose on the water

...any other suggestions?

France with Belle and the Beast sound pretty incredible to me. It would be a really cool experience seeing as the castmembers would probably do anything in their power to make it as special as it possibly could be.

It's very nice to be reading this thread. I'm probably going to be proposing there as well around the same time as GrimmGhosts. The wedding's actually mostly planned and paid for at this point, but we never got around to the engagement ring. :p

My sister got proposed to at the Magic Kingdom rose garden in the afternoon earlier this year. So, I definitely can't do that.

well....i'm going to buy the ring next week. I'm so excited. I've been waiting to do this for a year now. I finally decided where I'm going to propose....I just have to wait until our vacation. I know it's going to burn a hole in my pocket carrying around the ring. Thank you all for your advice on this thread.
