Weather in January?

I tried searching this topic and came up with nothing. I am waiting for Connor to come on and show me where this thread is so bring it on. But just in case I am not wrong can someone please tell me what the weather is like in early January? We made a trip two Decembers ago for Christmas but all I can remember is the first day was freezing! We are looking at going again this January. I want to avoid the the blistering heat but dont want to be there when there is frost on the rides, due to the fact that i have small children. Any help would be appreciated!

January can be a very weird month here in Florida. Can go from temps near 80 to nights where the wind chill is 10 degrees. The best advise is to keep checking www.weather.com and looking at the forecast. It won't be the most accurate but it should give you a good idea as your trip gets closer. Either way, you should definately bring at least one cold weather outfit. Don't know how many times I've seen tourists walking around WDW when it's 40 degrees wearing shorts!!

or you can visit accuweather.com...I don't exactly know how long you'll be staying, but it will give a 15 day forcast...so as of right now it's up to January 7...although not accurate, at least I have an idea of what the weather will be like when I'm there.

Speaking from personal experience, 40 degrees is comfortable shorts weather when you came from -40 degrees at home! I remember finding it amusing that the "thin-blooded" locals thought I was a crazy tourist who didn't know to bring appropriate clothes! I was thinking how great it was to be somewhere "so warm".

It's all what you're accustomed to.

For walking around a park, shorts are great in 40 degree weather if you are wearing warm boots and a long sleve shirt. But are the daytime temps ever really as low as 40F in the Orlando area? I remember seeing people wearing parkas at the parks one December. It was 64F.

I don't know if this will help also, but January is the slowest month for Disney World. Meaning that its the least populated month. So its a great time to go!

It is a really slow month at both DW and Universal... I remember going on rides like Splash Mountain, The Mummy, and others again and again and again...

Now, on to the weather...

As Tom mentions, it can really get weird... I always travel to Orlando on Christmas, and packing is an adventure... ;) Depending on your tolerance for cold, you may want to wear mostly jeans with a t-shirt, and have a jacket on hand if the day starts cold...

I remember last year, on new year's eve; we were on MGM, wearing our long sleeve shirts and all... However, and contrary to the weatherman's belief, the day got pretty warm... So we ended up buying some t-shirts at a store on the park...

One good thing though, it hardly ever rains... So that's not a main issue...

I'm gonna guess that depending on the weather reports of course, that jeans or capris would be the safest bet. Shorts might be a litle chilly.

I plan on bringing pants and sweatshirts for my trip in a week. Plus I thought I'd bring along my scarf and a pair of gloves as well. I don't think I will be bringing my coat.

Well the coats are coming with us regardless, it'll be a pleasant 30-40F at home, and it's not fun stepping out into snow in short sleeve shirts. :p

Thanks for the advice

ah...that is a good point. Yeah, it will probably be about that cold at home when I return here too...but I don't really care. I go without a coat a lot, even though I freeze. :)

I just got back from a quick trip right before Christmas. Dec. 21st we were at the MK for Evening EMH and I was MISERABLE!! It was something like 41 degrees that night!! We are going back in a couple of weeks (MLK long weekend) and I'll be taking coats if the forecast looks even remotely similar. I'm hoping for a heat wave, though. I wanna sit by the pool!!
