Weather in Feb and March

We normally go in April, but depending on when value seasons fall next year, it's possible that we may go in Feb or March. However, the major drawbacks to that are that my wife wants to do a beach day and I would like to swim in the pool and go to a waterpark. And I'm not sure if either of us will be able to do that in February. How cold does it generally get in those months? When do the water parks open for the season?

We've been going in February every year for the past 7 years, and the weather has usually been quite delightful. It's a bit cool in the early morning and evenings, but nothing requiring more than a light jacket. As far as swimming goes, we rent a house with a heated pool, and we use it every day. We have been to the gulf coast beaches during that time, and usually it has been refreshing. However if they have a bad hurricane season, the gulf water will definitely be cooler.

We've went twice during our Spring Break (usually second week in March) and found the weather to be perfect. As Nemo14 stated, it is usually a little cool in the early morning and after the sun goes down, but I would gladly take that weather over what it feels like back up here in Canada at that time ( as in c-c-c-cold). Of course March is usually peak season too, so expect big crowds that week of our break and higher prices on your rooms.

As for swimming, we all went to both water parks and swam in the Pop Century pool almost every day and the water was perfect (heated pools help). Although we lucked out on Typhoon Lagoon as it opened for the season two days before we left (March 18th I believe), so we got to get it in too. And go figure that it turned out to be the chilliest day of our whole trip - mid 60's and overcast that day. Now I don't know if it is shut down every year at this time or if they alternate every year, but I do remember TL just opening last time we went down there 2 years ago in March too.

Usually that time of year one or the other water park is closed for cleaning/refurb. But there's always one of them open. :D

Coming from Canada, the weather is toasty. Locals find it cold.

We went the first week of February this year, and it was downright chilly! Even coming from New England, we had to wear sweatshirts every day (never cold enough to skip Splash or the pool,) except the last day, which was sunny and delightfully warm but not hot.
So I'd say pack for anything!

So true. If you're from the south, you probably wouldn't be caught dead in a pool before April/May.

However if you are accustomed to COLD, then you will probably find the weather quite balmy.
