Weather in December

We'll be going to Disney World from Dec. 27-Jan. 4. We've never been down to Florida this time of year. What is the weather like? Does it get really cold at night? I'm trying to get a sense of what type of clothes to pack. Thanks for the help.

My suggestion would be to pack a little bit of everything so you can be prepared for any type of weather. We went one year in February and it was the coldest week on record for Orlando. We wore jeans everyday and at least 2 long sleeve layers on top, some days we wore 4 layers. On the opposite end of the spectrum we went in December 2006 and it was 85 and sunny everyday and we were still wearing shorts and t-shirts in MK at midnight the night we attended MVMCP.

I'm planning a bit of everything. I'm hoping we won't need jeans and sweatshirts, but I'm bringing them, along with shorts and t-shirts. I'm also hoping that we can use the pool. It's hard to judge in August what December will be like, when you get closer keep checking with weather.com that's what I plan to do.

December is just one of those unpredictable months. When we went last year, we spent a day at the pool. When we went the year before that, we wore light jackets a few days in the park and definitely in the evenings. The first year we went, we packed both jeans and shorts. I've found that so far, the temps haven't gotten so cold in Dec that I can't wear shorts all the time, so I don't pack jeans anymore. However, I do find that I wear a light jacket and/or sweatshirt quite a bit...especially at night. For some reason my legs don't mind being chilly (so I can wear shorts), but the rest of me needs something to keep warm!

Take a little bit of everything. When I go in December, I tend to wear blue jeans and a t-shirt. At night I normally slip on hoodie in my backpack. Now, keep in mind I live in South Georgia, so when the temperature hits the high 70's it's cooling off to me.

I have been at WDW in December when it was in the 30's.
I have been at WDW in December when it was in the 80's.
Sometimes one day is cold and the next day is warm.

A week before you go, before you pack, check the weather forecast at the top of this website.

Chances are that you will need a coat at night at least.

Have fun.

We'll be there at virtually the same time as you - we're packing a little of everything from T-Shirts and shorts to long pants and a sweatshirt plus a jacket in case of rain and some swimming gear "just in case"

When we went at Christmas time 12th-28th, it was warm during the day but a bit cold on the night, not freezing but just a bit cold. We wore shorts during the day and put just a sweater or a jacket on during the night

Anyways,
I have been to Florida during that time of the year and it really is just a mishmash of everything. Just bring everything from a bathingsuit to a windbreaker :)
