The parks are super-busy in early December due to Pop Warner/Cheerleading events. This year the first few days of December were warm (near 80 degrees) but then a cold front arrived causing daytime temps in the 40s. Typically days are mild but nights can be chilly ~ it varies from year to year. Best advice is to start checking weather forecasts two weeks prior to arrival.

December in Orlando is so unpredictable honestly. It can go from 50 degrees one day to 90 the next. It is definitely an awesome time to go though with all the holiday festivities and decorations. We went the week of Christmas a few years back and the weather was beautiful but the crowds were horrendous. Would definitely recommend going the first or second week of December! The crowds aren't as bad as most kids are still in school and you still get all of the holiday events going on.

My anecdotal experience from first week last month:
Insane crowds at the MK, big crowds elsewhere.
Lovely weather most of the time. A few days in shorts, a few in light summer jacket, and two days very cold. Quite a big difference between day and evening.

That about sums up my recent experience. It was pretty warm though this year, very little cloud cover and highs in the low to mid-80's. Not sweltering by any means but not picture perfect weather either.

I love going between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The crowd levels are lower, the weather rather nice (even a touch chilly sometimes) and the decorations are up. One of the best times to go.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I just got back from our favorite time 11/29-12/12/17 and never saw any insane crowds. Pop Warner kids mostly are doing their evebts at WWOS all day so rarely are seen in the parks until in the evening if at all in our experience. Had lower to moderate most days. We go this time often and have never seen Insane crowds. Now weekends at MK we saw the more moderate crowds but for us that do not like packed parks we were still fine. Weather though is always a mixed bag. We literally had below freezing (there was wind chill advisories being we had wind chills around 10-15° a few nights) all the way to 80°. Those days it was only maybe 40ish for a high we were bundled up and the days of 75-85 were great. 9 our of our 14 days were the mild temps and 5 days it was chilly requiring lots of layers. Some years it was warm the whole time but yes some we had the really cold weather. We always do pack for both so we weren’t having to run around buying jackets and hats and gloves like many were that came unprepared. Florida is a wet cold so yeah temps you might think aren’t that bad are a lot worse here in the south than up north. I have family up north and friends and they are like that’s nothing then come down here and freeze and say hey you were right a total different cold. Lol ;)

Here's the brutal honest truth:

It used to be you could have the grand old time October through March with the exception of the major holidays themselves...no more.

You used to want to avoid spring break and summer like the plague...now they seem lighter and the longer days come in handy.

Weather is inconsistent and will be moving forward...Mother Nature is speaking.

The only truly slow times now it seems are late August to September and perhaps a week or two sporadically over the winter.

May used to be great but I see lots of accounts of that being worse than the middle of summer now.

Good luck in planning. We all want to be by ourselves when we're there...if we're honest.
