EPCOT Center: Weather and Seasons Pavilion
My main goal for this ride/pavilion is to bring back the edutainment feel that the original EPCOT Center had. If I am able to do this, I will be satisfied. So on that note, please enjoy.

Some backround Info: Journey through the Seasons(sponsored by the Weather Channel) is EPCOT’s newest adventure through science. Located on the former site of the closed Wonders of Life pavilion. Board traveling theater cars to take a journey through the seasons and weather and see how they affect our ever-changing environment. After riding, feel free to take a look around our post show area to learn more about the topics discussed in the ride with hands on exhibits and more exciting attractions.

Ride Vehicles: Travelling theater cars(same as universe of energy and great movie ride

Queue: Starting outside, wind your way through, topiary gardens until you reach the large front door of the pavilion. Groups of 60 are taken into the pavilion every 15 minutes to see the preshow.

Preshow: Step into the dark preshow room(holds about 350 people) to watch the preshow movie which is presented on the revolutionary radok screens(If u don’t know what they are, try googling it) which will give the film more depth. After the preshow, you will walk through doors located under the screen to enter the actual attraction.

Attraction Ride-Through: After walking through the doors, you enter a dark room holding six theater cars capable of carrying 80 people throughout the ride. Once you and every other guest enter the cars, the lights go dim as the cars spin to the right to face the screens. On the screen, a short presentation, narrated be Walter Kronkite(yes I know he’s dead but I don’t care), begins. During the presentation, he explains how weather, natural disasters and the seasons all affect our planet throughout its constant ever-changing state. At the end of the movie, the screen fills with storm clouds as giant fans hidden throughout the room and strobe lights to simulate a thunder storm. Suddenly, it is revealed that the bottom part of the screen is part of the next room and the cars move“through” the screen and into a dome with the same projections as shown at the end of the movie. Fans are still blowing through the tunnel as are the strobe lights still flashing. Walter Kronkite(narrating the entire ride) will then say that we should observe how this is affecting the earth. Suddenly, the floor starts to drop with all six cars. As the elevator slowly makes its way into the basement portion which houses the rest of the ride, more storm cloud projections and strobe lights follow you down until you land in the basement in the middle of a forest. The cars move into single file and once again, all the thunderstorm effects are running in the diorama but with the addition of rain through sprinkler systems in the roof. Walter Kronkite explains that springtime brings new life to the earth and all its inhabitants. As you progress through the diorama, flowers are growing, the leaves are sprouting on trees and everything is becoming greener. During the transition to the summer diorama, the rain stops and it slowly starts to get sunnier and sunnier until you reach the actual summer diorama. The sky is blue. Only a few clouds linger in the sky via projections. Heaters are on to create the illusion of a hot day and Mr. Kronkite explains that though the summer can be helpful, it can also be very harmful. As you continue through the diorama, the forest slowly starts to come up in smokes as a forest fire forms all around you. When you get towards the end, you enter through a smoke screen and narrowly escape a falling tree. Once past the smoke screen, you end up in the autumn diorama. Here, Mr. Kronkite will explain that autumn is the time of harvest. As you pass through the sunny hillside, apples hang off trees as do other types of fruits. Leaves are turning yellow and red and the air feels cool. As you exit the autumn diorama, the room gets cold. Everything in the diorama is white. It’s snowing. The trees have no leaves; the snow is blocking the sky and sun from view. While passing through here, Mr. Kronkite explains that the winter brings death to the ecosystem until spring when the cycle repeats. After leaving the diorama, you end up in a second theater. The cars return to their original position. This presentation explains how natural disasters also affect the world around us. After the film, the cars move into a field in a huge circular room. It is raining out. The cars stop and suddenly a tornado forms far off in the field. As it moves closer, the cars lift off the ground and spin while travelling upward as the tornado comes closer and engulfs them. While travelling up, the inside of the tornado is projected on the walls. Eventually, the cars stop in a planetarium-like dome. The room goes completely black. The third and final video begins. As Mr. Kronkite recaps on what happened on the ride, videos and effects relating to weather/seasons/etc. are projected on the dome. At the end of the video, the lights come on and the exit doors open. Everyone is let out of their vehicles and are free to leave and enjoy the post show area.

Research lab(post show): After enjoying the ride, please take a look around the Weather Control Center's research lab and learn more about the topics discussed in the ride. Themed to look like a futuristic lab, take your time to explore the post show area and look at all the exhibits presented inside. Learn about the devastation that natural disasters cause in "Destruction in Nature". Walk through a series of hanging Domes and tubes simulating the seasons in the "4 Seasons Trail". Then, take an exhilarating ride on "Storm Rider". Board a flying laboratory to help the Weather Control Center stop an oncoming Typhoon headed right for Port Canaveral. Those are some of the exciting exhibits and adventures waiting for you in the Weather Control Center's reserch lab

I love it! awesome! Instead of the late Walter Kronkite! I was thinking Al Roker to be the narrator of this ride!

Sounds really cool! There's so much they could do with a pavillion like that! And I love that it isn't like any of the other pavillions. It is a separate, unique form of science.

I think a cool climate ride would be neat too...where each area feels and looks like a different climate(think freezing in the tundra and hot and humid in the rainforest). That would be neat, and show people what it is like in places they may never travel to otherwise.

That's what i was getting at for the 4 seasons trail. It's like those domes that were in the Millenium Village. Like u walk through rooms that simulates the season with the different climates that u would feel in the season.
