Well, everyone, Thanksgiving is here again.
Thanksgiving is special in America because it goes all the way back to our founding, when the early settlers (some say in Virginia, and some say in Massachusettes, but I think in both places if not many others) stopped at harvest-time to give thanks to God for their bountious blessings. And somehow, despite all the ups and downs of our history, we have managed to keep this most humbling of holidays as a favorite and strong one: and despite all the creeping commercialism, it still inspires many of us to stop and give thanks to God, just as those first settlers.
Those of you around the world outside of the U.S.A. may not have this holiday, but I thought we could share the thought again here, as we did last year (which itself really inspired me, reading everyone's contributions). A lot has transpired in the last year, I know at least for me.
So, I offer this thread as a way of stopping, just for a minute, to list and share the things for which we are thankful this year...
I'll start, by saying that as this year has moved on, I have watched my father (who is 70 this year) deal with health problems that came from a series of small strokes; and along the way, I have been more thankful of the time that I have with him. He has a wonderful attitude and still good health, considering, which I CANNOT take for granted!
And I am thankful for my mother, who shows her love EVERY DAY to my father, but more than anything else makes people smile and laugh... and first talked "Daddy" into taking us to WDW 30 years ago!!!
For these blessings, I will be offering my thanks to God this year...
