Me and my family are thinking about going on the cruise line for 2010. None of us have ever been on a cruise or even thought about it until know. We were thinking, we did everything in disney why not change it up for one year. Now being so expensive (over 5,500$ for a family of four :fork:). I wanted to know what is there really to do on the boat and if its worth trying. Thanks for your help .

EDIT: I also wanted to know if we decide to do it where do we go to get on the boat do we have to travel down to florida or what?

Have a look through the DCL website. There's lots to do on board, you can be as busy or relaxed as you choose to be. There are age-appropriate clubs for the kids that can keep them occupied without ever seeing you if you want. It's a great experience.

$5,500 ?

Check around at different times and different classes of staterooms.

I have a 4 day in a Verandah stateroom booked the end of August, for me and my two kids (the first kid has to pay adult rate - I just love that). The cruise charges for the three of us is $2,900 - to add an additional person is not much more, because they would be at the child rate. The different between the beginning of the summer (July) vs. end of August was over $2,000. The total price dropped steadly every week later you got into the summer. It would be even cheaper if you went down to a navagators verandah, or a window room.

Marie from Kingdom Konsulatants priced out 2 months of sailing dates for me, and at two different stateroom levels as well and emailed it to me.

I looked at it, and based on scehdule and what I wanted to spend, picked a sailing.

As this is our second cruise, I guess you can say yes, we enjoy it. :)

The ships sail from Port Canaveral in Florida. You have to get there - of course that costs extra :)

The cruise line has become my favorite vacation. There's a ton to do onboard. I have a trip report in the trip report section from our last cruise a few weeks ago. It may give you some ideas of what there is to do.

We've done 4 cruises. The kids in our groups have ranged from 18 months to 14 years, and they've all enjoyed it. There are so many things for the kids to do.

The adults also have a huge range of choices. You can spend a lot of time relaxing, or take part in the many activities offered daily. Movies, wine tastings, sports, cooking classes, and the list goes on and on.

Port Canaveral is about 45 minutes from Orlando. If you fly, Disney offers transfers from the airport for $35 one way per person, or you can rent a car.

I'm with phonedave, you can do better than $5500 if your dates are flexible. There are a few sailings now that are offering huge onboard credits for Verandah rooms, and there are some sailings where kids are 50% off.

Send me an email and I can help you find the best deal.:)
