I think the best era for Disney for anyone is when they were within the ages of 11 or younger. When you don't notice anything bad and truly believe you're in a magical world and take everything seriously (in a fantasy sense).

There cannot be a "best era" for teens or adults because we're obviously going to complain about everything that kids would never even notice.

Interesting... Like others have said, I never got to go to Disney when I was a kid. I went to DL once, but I don't really remember it. So, I can't say it was best when I was a kid (in the 80's). However, my favorite time to go with MY kids was when they were around that 10/11 age range (around 2006). They're teens now and still enjoy it, but the pre-teens were such a fun time. I'm pretty sure though, that had I been able to go back in the 80's that I'd say that was my favorite time cause everything was better in the 80's. :)

I was an adult the first time I went '81, but I picked 1993-2000 because during that time period, all 4 parks were open, and it was during that time period we started staying on property plus my DSs were little and seeing them enjoy it as kids means more to me than if I had the opportunity to see it as a kid ... besides WDW wasn't open until I was in HS, so I could have never seen it as a kid anyhow!!

Spoken like a mother... pretty much how I felt too.

Why did you break it up the way you did, OP? There are some clearly definable 'eras' that you could have used, but you just did it in 7 year periods.

That's a good question, & frankly I didn't give it much thought. I wasn't going to have a poll in the first place but threw it in for fun. It would be interesting to try to determine actual chapters in the development of WDW, but unfortunately the poll only reflects evenly spaced years.

71 to Sept 30, 82 (Epcot Opens)
82 to 94 (Epcot to Wells' death)
94 to 98 (DAK opening)
98 to 2004 (DAK to Eisner's ouster)
04 to present (Iger era)

Slightly different:
71 to 84 (Opening to Eisner)
84 to 94 (Eisner & Wells)
94 to 2004 (Eisner era)
04 to present (Iger era)

I think the Opening, Eisner Wells, Eisner, Iger breakdown is probably the best. I may spend some time thinking about how Disney changed or evolved during those times. Thanks for the input!

I guess I was the only one that chose 1971-'78? Anyways, I chose that because it was something new back then. My dad went in 1973. I didn't go until 1991. I thought the 1990s was great too, perhaps I should have voted for it. But in all honesty, despite the complaints today, I have never once had a bad day at the parks. I walk out of each park feeling that I got my bang for every buck. Nothing touches me like Disney. Not in 1991, not in 2012. It can't be beat.

I guess I chose the 1970s because it was completely fresh back then and I would like to have seen it in its original shape.
