Don't know if this was mentioned earlier, I just saw a wedding cake posted on FB disney world junkies page. It's a projection cake. The cake is multi-layered,- all white. Tinkerbell was flying all over the cake and Cinderella's carriage was strolling along the layers too. Very beautiful. I can only imagine what it costs. Lol

Ugh- looked on there, but can't find the cake pic. If you see it, would you mind posting it? It sounds very neat. Funny, but I never thought about projections on cakes. It would make the decorating part much easier as you'd really just need a blank canvas of a cake.

I'm new around here, but I wanted to share some finds from my Facebook feed...

The poster says that this is a new cake mapping, which debuted at Disney's Fairy Tales Wedding Expo!

The cake in the posts above also was the feature for wedding cake Wednesday on the Disney wedding blog.

They also had a couple of stills...

I'm really hoping to see more pics of the rest of the cakes from this event as this is usually packed full of great cakes. I also found out that this cake is only an option in the Disney wedding pkgs that start at $12K.

I have at least seen one other cake from the event as well as some of the white chocolate toppers on display.

The Vader head is modeling chocolate.

Yes...I'm in love with the castle toppers...

Looks like we FINALLY have an Ariel topper in white chocolate that MAY be available for custom cakes...

And finally...a mini wedding cake and some other fun desserts...

That is such a neat villain mini cake! I absolutely love it - did you work with Pat at GF?

Also, according to sources, the projection cake is an additional $2900 just for the projection!

Question,
Already ordered my cake to be delivered to our meal at the California Grill. I planned on charging the meal back to our room. But can the cake be charged back too? Should I just bring my card?

They add it to the restaurant bill and however you want to pay for your whole bill by charging to room, etc you can pay however you want. :)

Yes...I have been missing in action for a while...and this may be the only time you see me on here until things calm down at work. Of course, that's going to be right before we leave for WDW. Sorry, things are just CRAZY! It was expected, but it's just kind of consuming my life right now.

On a personal cake note, I placed a call to Pat at the GF today. So, now I wait for her to get back with me so I can hash out my own cake details.

OK...on to actual cakes...

First up, a 10" cake with vanilla buttercream and raspberry mousse filling made by the GF for $150

Next is a gluten free cake from the GF with a dark chocolate Mickey topper...about $28

Posting this one (no price info) because I don't think I've seen them do a Buzz screenprint...at least not that anyone's posted.

The next cake is very cool...Fozzie Bear inspired, made by the Contemporary Bakery, delivered to Cali Grill, and cost $105. It's an 8" chocolate cake with filling layers of chocolate ganache and peanut butter buttercream. So cute!!!

Now we've all seen the projection cake Disney recently featured in their bridal showcase, but it's not the only cake they were showing. Here's a handful of the other cakes and cupcakes that were part of the event. NOTE: they will not do the cupcake for regular cake orders, but they're good design inspiration for full sized cakes.

Nice cakes @ladyelenawf :)

I have a few Disney made cakes for you guys in this update.

Not too many details on prices for the cakes above, but the next cake was delivered to Crystal Palace and cost $130. I realize they used the HM edible paper for this one, but I would not pay $130 for this cake. Most of the cakes we've seen like this are in the $65-85 range. For $130, I expect fondant and lots of little edible neat things like the picture frames, ghosts, etc.

OK- on the flipside...the GF made this cake below for $68. So, while I think the cake above was a complete and utter ripoff...the cake below was an all out bargain. Bravo to the GF for making a super cool cake!!!

Yes, they took the base for the standard mouse ears topper and made Maleficent horns instead. BRAVO!

This next one is a zebra dome cake from AKL. I'll spare you the poster's novel, but it sounds like AKL had some issues with getting this right...OK, lots of issues.

This one was delivered to BOG- nice take on the mini wedding cake within the Contemporary's newer strict decorating rules.

image134.jpg

And finally...a Disney made wedding cake. Not quite my thing, but the flowers are pretty and this could easily translate into a single tier special occasion cake.

And while I don't think any of the bakeries would do a special occasion cake like this, the Disney bakeries will apparently will do one of these naked cakes for weddings...

In this one, it looks like they are just illustrating the cake flavors. Most of the ones I've seen color the tiers to give it pop. Example below...

Oh well...I guess it's something you could consider at home. It may seem like a fairly easy concept, but good luck getting nice even layers that are suitable for viewing like this ;)
I love the mini wedding cake with the chocolate covered strawberries. Do you have a price on that one? And do you think that would be something I can get at Cali grill?

I'm sorry...I've been living at work these last 2 weeks and will probably be tied to my desk for at least another week. That looks like something the Contemporary could do. The cake itself should be around the $35 mark as @Superblonde noted...but not sure how much the price bumps up for the strawberries. I did not see any prices listed by the poster for this one.
