Any one noticed how the forums are censored for inappropriate language??? I think these things are a little too sensitive though. Ok...perhaps if I actually type a bad word, it should be taken out, but I should be able to use a word like do______ents without having the middle of the word thrown out. I mean, of course there is a way around this, like, do.c.u.m.ents. Or, I could have the d.i.c.k.ens scared out of me! LOL. Find a new censorship program!:sohappy:

Did you actually read any of the posts that were put on the boards the other night? I think they were by someone called Silentwarrior3 (I may be corrected on this).
I am sorry, but I think Steve has got it spot on, particularly at the moment becaus eyou never know when any of these dead-heads will come back and spout more of this highly offensive drivell.
Believe me, if you didn't see it, it was really REALLY disgraceful.

It's not Steve's fault, it's just the intelligence of the vBulletin script, or in some cases, lack there of. The PHP script does simple search and replace on words, it doesn't read what the word is. So if the search finds the filtered word in the string of text it's searching, that's all it knows, and edits it accordingly.
A more intelligent script could be written, but it's alot more time-consuming (to write), and would require longer processes in scanning the text. Since PHP is a server-side program, it would just put extra load on the server as well. Not alot, but extra.
And I agree, that person was just spouting pure filth one post after the next. Any precautions Steve had to take to preserve the sanctity of the board, are worth it in my opinion.

Its not so much the script as the fact that steve put it on "Ultra sensitive" mode...just because those guys found ways to get past the censorship...so basically...their immaturity and total lack of mental ability has caused these measures to be taken.
This board isnt Steves full time job, so he isnt about to spend all his free time working on it...and I accept and agree with that.

I am not TELLING you anything. I am explaining the possible reason behind Steve changing the way things are censored on here.
I suppose you would prefer it so any no brained idiot is able to come on here and type what they want, I mean I don't know about you but I am sure a Walt Disney World discussion forum is an IDEAL place to have someone posting something about beastiality.

I did see the posts the other night, from the troll, while reading the forums with my 7 year old daughter (who reads extremely well) and what the troll was saying was AWFUL. Steve did a GREAT!!! job dealing with the problem and continues to do a great job with this site. I'm just grateful we have a place to be able to come to and interact with others without having to worry about what she reads.

IMO, I would rather have a strong censor. This is a Disney site, and some people can get out of hand.
I'm like most of you...our "troll" the other night had some way of getting around the censor, and I know if a little kid saw that, it would cause some problems. Some words are bad and are not caught, but some are good and get caught. Why would you want a lessor censor anyway? How many people type the words that ya'll are talking about?

Let's keep in mind this is a Disney board, although some words do get cut out because they contain certain words inside them, I don't see it as a huge problem. The censors are in place to catch things before some of our younger members/readers (as said above, 7 years old) do not have to see them.
