I posted a more thorough trip report in the TR sub-forum, but there is a lot of superfluous 'non-news' stuff in it, so I didn't think it was appropriate to copy it here. Rather, I'll do some quick hits. If you want more detail and pictures, I suggest following the link to the full post: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=481577

Quick Hits:

MK

  • The most crowded we have seen the parks during any of our August trips (we always go this week)
  • Tomorrowland was a mess, but all the walls up were actually more promising than anything. Hopefully the future is bright!
  • Skyway demolition visibly began during our trip
  • Lots of facade work going on throughout the park--again, very promising
  • Hours were generally 1-2 less than during previous years. Absolutely unexcusable in my opinion given attendance. Given that Disney has caused this attendance spike, I do not feel it should try to meet budget numbers by closing earlier. Certainly, cuts are understandable, but not to park hours in light of the increased attendance
  • Upkeep was generally very good. This park looks to be improving, generally.
  • All of the Fantasyland dark rides consistently had hour plus waits. Increased capacity is definitely needed in this area of the park.
  • Hall of Presidents was amazing. Wow. No boos for Bush; in fact, applause during his 9/11 speech "I can hear you" on two different occasions. That shocked me a tad.
  • Sonny Eclipse is looking good. Both eyebrows now function well.
  • Castle Dream Lights began going up August 14th or 15th.
EPCOT

  • Kim Possible was down all day on August 14th
  • Print quality (bunch of crap on it) on Soarin' could stand to be improved. This really needs a digital projection.
  • UoE's new paint scheme looks great; that and the Innoventions area music really remind me of the old EPCOT Center (and I don't even know if the area music there is EC-era).
  • The park was immaculate, albeit busy.
DHS

  • AIE was surprisingly enjoyable. I just wish the hosts would develop their own personalities, rather than copying those of the TV judges
  • Muppets was looking good.
  • Star Tours needs some help.
  • TSM, ToT, and RnRC constantly had 1-2 hour waits. This park needs more capacity
AK

  • Sweltering weather
  • Central FastPass machines distribute FPs to all attractions despite windows. That was great for us!
  • Saw a lot of "rare-ish" characters out.
  • Yeti in B mode

Good to hear about good conditions I'm MK and EPCOT! Love to hear from someone else who thinks refurbs are for the better. Thanks for the update!

Answering/commenting in bolded order...

Didn't they raise hours? They did for us...I thought it was in effect for this week too.

I too noticed the better upkeep.:D Made me happy.

That segment made me both cry, and be very happy about HoP.(and America in general!) It also does something nice for Bush's image.

KP down!? How?:lookaroun:lol:

1980's/90's era music for EPCOT was AWESOME.:D

I don't know of anyone who thinks refurbs are bad things.

Oh wait. Phil Holmes.:lol::lookaroun

On a more serious note, good trip report! Sorry to hear about KP, it's a very fun little attraction.
I have seen some people complain about too many walls,or scrims, even the themed ones with the picture of the building.

August 18th was the first day that they raised the hours, and our flight was before then, so we didn't benefit. It is worth noting that August 18th was the lightest day crowds-wise of the entire trip. I wonder if it took awhile for that response (as in, they noticed the increased crowds but the 18th was the earliest they could implement any increased hours?)

August 17th, at the very least, could've used an increase 10 p.m. was way too early for the park to close given the mobs.

I got choked up during HoP too. That and American Adventure always do it for me.
