hello! I haven't been on here in FOREVER and decided to check it out again! So....next December we're planning to take another trip to WDW and i'll have a 10-11 month old (depending on when it's born) and my cousin who's going with us will have a 15 month old. is WDW do-able with infants?? I know every time we've gone we've seen people with small children, but i've never experienced it. the first time we took my son he was 18 months so he could walk and do all that stuff....just wondering if anyone had any advice for going with a baby?

Thanks!!!

I can let you know after February. LOL. My DH and I will be celebrating our son's first birthday down there. We are a bit nervous, not because we don't want to take him, but it will be our first trip with him. So planes, and getting things together etc. Is making me a bit nervous. And yet I am so excited to go with him....But I can give you a better feel of things when I return!

i'm sure you'll have a great time! i know WE will have a great time....i just don't want to get myself in over my head and deal with 2 crying babies that are frustrated and so forth!! i've never been on a plane with a baby....good luck with that :)

We took our DD when she was 6 months old. It's not bad, but you just have to take things slow and know that you can't always be on time for things. We went down with my in-laws and a couple other people. So we had help when it came to watching her when we wanted to go on rides. We would just switch off. They have nice baby care centers- which is where you can go in for privacy to feed them or change them. We went down in September so it was still a little warm. She would take naps in the stroller and we just went about our day. You will be going in December which you might not have to worry about the heat so much. We had a great time with an infant.

Are there baby care centers in every park? The only ones I've ever noticed before was in Animal Kingdom and there was only one that I saw. We'll be a total of 4 adults and 3 kids (maybe more if more family wants to go) so we'll be able to do lots of "child swap" on the rides! I can't wait to go....thanks for your response!

I believe there are baby care centers in every one of the parks- even the water parks. Hope you have a great time. We are going this December and can't wait. This will be our first time seeing it at xmas time.:xmas:

Also try to book the plane ride when the baby naps. That always helped us because she slept for most of the plane ride and we didn't have to worry about entertaining her.

I took my son when he was a month old, and again when he was a year old and he did great. We just took it slower than normal and had to pack the diaper bag full of stuff so the security check too me a little longer. It was a more exhausting trip having a little one to take care of, but it was still fun and my favorite part was seeing his little eyes light up. Even at a year old he loved the country bears and it's a small world. I did find we went back to the room in the middle of the day and we normally didn't, but both times we went were around june and it was hot. I think december would be perfect!

My youngest daughters first trip was when she was 10 days old. As most have said you just have to slow things way down. You are on your child's schedule not yours. As long as you follow that rule you will be fine. If you try to do the parks commando style from open to close with a small child or an infant a miserable experience is all but guaranteed.

Oh yeah we are planning on it. We to will have a fabulous time. And we expect to take it slower. Which is so fine by me. But I know its going to be fine. Just being there and everything is worth it. I think I am more nervous about the flight with a baby than actually being there. But I know we will have an amazing time....I can't wait to bring him down

We took ds for his first trip when he was 6 months old. I only had a week to plan and pack since dh came home from work and said lets go to Disney next week! He did great on the plane! We had a direct flight. The flight attendant even held him for a bit and took him up and down the aisle to show him off. He got a certificate and wings for his first time flying. We gave him a bottle at take off and landing to help with his ears. Our plane didn't have a changing table in the bathroom, so the flight attendant just told us to change him on an empty seat before everyone else boarded. If your little one will sit for a bit, I'd advise boarding first if you're able to so you can get situated. We didn't take his car seat, but did check it and his his stroller at the gate. We bought a seat for him also. It was just easier to have the extra room.

While we were there, we took it at his pace. The baby care centers were awesome! We took the time to chill for a bit in there so we could change his diaper, feed him in the high chairs and then took him in the "quiet" nursing room to feed him a bottle, hoping he'd settle down. (didn't happen!)

He LOVED the character buffets! I highly recommend them with little ones too. You can get your meal pretty fast and the characters do all the entertaining. We only had to give our son a bottle while we were there and the characters did the rest! We also took our stroller in the restaurants a few times when he was napping or about to nap. They didn't have a problem with it, it just took a few extra minutes for them to find a table that would accommodate a stroller.

There were tons of rides that he was able to do. He especially loved IASW. We rode that SEVERAL times! The baby swap is also soooo simple to use.

On our second trip with ds, he was 15 months old this past Nov/Dec. We drove from Maine on this trip. He also did very well in the car for that long of a time. It was soooo cute watching him RUN up to the characters and just about knock them over hugging them. Sooo cute! I always said I'd never stand in line to see characters, but found us doing so and had the best time! His expressions were priceless! He loved everything he did when we were there when he was 6 months, but just even more so. We'd get off one ride and he'd just say, "More?!". So we knew he was having fun! Some "Must do's" are Playhouse Disney Live at HS, Hollywood and Vine Play and Dine character breakfast and lunch, (We have 2 ressies for there this time. DS had SOOOOO much fun there!), Country Bears, Festival of the Lion King, Conservation Station, All the Fantasyland rides, Finding Nemo and Figment. We still took him to the baby care center for diaper changes and to just sit in the feeding room so he could unwind and watch a little bit of a movie. Disney makes it so easy to take children of all ages, no matter how little.

You are going to have a GREAT time!!! Just remember to take it at your baby's pace. Go back for a swim or nap if you need to or find a quiet place in the park if your baby starts to feel overwhelmed.

We also got his first haircut there at MK. I'd highly recommend it!

We're leaving next month when he'll be 2. Can't wait to see his expressions when he knows even more of the characters now. He's all excited that he gets to ride on an airplane. We'll still be taking it easy since I'll be 7 months pregnant.

If you have any questions, just ask or send a pm!

My son is 2 and October will be his 3rd trip. The baby care centers are AWESOME. My wife loved them, one of the nice things Disney does. That mixed with the rider swap and you can really have a great time even with an infant. its slower sure, but every once in a while its nice to do a slow trip and not open to close ride as many rides see as many shows as you can type trip.

we will definitely take it slower...and we always go back mid afternoon for a nap anyway so it won't be any different with a baby for that part :) we love going in and resting and then taking our showers and getting ready and going out for dinner and then for some more rides :) i can't wait to see DW at Christmas time!!! we usually go in september and it's hot and crowded and i've always wanted to see it at christmas time so we decided to be different next time!!!

I did it with a 10 month old. Let me tell you, that was my best trip ever! Especially now that she is 4 and tells you what she is going to do and what she isn't going to do!

We took it slow. Took naps. Still to this day, we ride the Railroad, the monorail, the train in AK, just to take a nap. A few rides around - they get a good nap in.

Ride the dark rides when you want them to sleep. My daughter loved sleeping in Spaceship Earth the first year.

Make sure you take advantage of the Baby Centers - they are great.

Up until this year, my daughter never slept through the night except in Disney. At 10 months old, I put her in the pack and play (bring your own sheets and blankets so they think they are at home), and slept through the night the whole trip.

Take lots of pictures and videos. They can re-live their first trip for years to come!

Oh...and one thing. Don't make priorty seating ressies. I swear that they know you have something booked and that becomes nasty time! Use counter service!
