So the consensus is that we're crazy, huh? I'm jealous of all you United Kingdomites (British?), and your 2-week long visits. This trip is going to be wedged between a family visit to Alabama for Christmas, and when school starts again after the New Year, so time is a bit short.
Totally agree. On our next trip, we are skipping MK until the construction is over. We will still, however, watch the fireworks from the beach at the poly. Just need to take a break from those crowds and the crazy transportation issues there for awhile.
I think we were going to do just that! We don't know whether we'll watch the fireworks from the Poly, or from the roof of Bay Lake Tower (where we're staying), but that may be our way of getting our MK fix if no other plans present themselves.
Going to WDW and skipping MK....I really can't imagine that. Kill the day off and go to MK, you can relax anytime!
Very good point... unfortunately, the day off was a compromise with someone that didn't want to go in ANY of the parks

eek

in favor of a nice, restful, Christmas vacation. And with crowds being how they are going to be, I can't say I really blame them.
That's not a bad idea. Disney is the kind of vacation where you can come home more tired than when you left. It's happened to me before. I've learned to take it slow, or stick a day off in between. Hit a water park if it's not the winter, or head over to Downtown DIsney or something.
Exactly! We're more sort of the easy-going park types; going to the parks morning to closing every day isn't really our style. (To tell the truth, we've never even woken up in time for a rope drop. :lookaroun) We're fans of the water parks, but I think December may be a bit chilly for that, so I think we'll use the off day to check out the decorations of some of the resort hotels. The Grand Floridian and its full-scale Gingerbread House, and the Beach Club with its chocolate carousel are some of our favorites.
I would skip Sea World or the day off before skipping Magic Kingdom.
Fair point... but we have one more day we have to use on our Annual Passes before we break even over the cost of the tickets, so SeaWorld it is!
Plus, the lengths that park goes to present itself for Christmas borders on insanity. Polar Express makeover of Wild Arctic, the Sea of Trees, the decorated Mediterranean village, the Christmas-themed Seymore and Clyde, an outdoor ice-skating show (in Florida!!), the amazing fireworks and fountains show (where you can keep the exact same seats used for the ice skating show)... the list goes on and on.
One whole day spent at Epcot JUST to eat at SAI?
I think I'd go to MK then eat at Taco Bell instead.
Well every year, we pick a restaurant off our dining wish list to eat at that we've never eaten at before, and this year we were feeling something World Showcase. Plus, we never really turn down a chance to visit Epcot anyway.
