We booked our vacation w/ Free Dining for the week of 5/25-6/1...And then I realized thats Memorial Day weekend.

I can't go any earlier than that b/c my sister is going w. us and we have to wait til her semester is finished, and that's the last week the Free Dining was available, which we really need, otherwise I don't know if we could swing the trip right now...It's my Mom, myself and husband, my sister, and our daughter who will be turning 1 during the trip.

My question I guess is mainly about Memorial Day activity...Is it going to be so busy there it will be unbearable????

Also, if everyone is going to tell me it's crazytown there...Do you know if I tried to switch my reservation to a later date (after June 25) if they would honor the Free Dining? I am sure I already know the answer to that, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks!

I've been down for Memorial Day many times, and it's not that bad. It will be crowded, but not any more so than in the summer. It is nothing like spring break, thanksgiving or Christmas time where it's totally insane.

Put it this way, if disney thought it was going to be crazy busy at that time they wouldn't be offering free dining to encourage people to book. They tend t raise prices during busy times not discount them. I would think that the combination of a holiday weekend and free dining will cause crowds to be slightly higher but nowhere near peak level.

I had figured they wouldn't be giving a deal out if it were crazy busy, and then when we booked, POR was fully booked, and I got really nervous!!

Thank you for your advice!

Dopey,
We are going around the same time. I found out after booking that it is also Gay Days week in Orlando. I have no issues any folks that might be going just for that, as I went to a pretty darn liberal school for undergrad, but I was worried about extra crowds. Looking into it, it doesn't seem to create too much of a spike in crowds, especially if your not going to the designated park for that day, and anyway this trip is focused on our little one, who probably won't be into rides as much as walking around.

@pjkdog...We are having the same type of trip! Our DD will be turning 1 while we are there, so I am not sure how into rides she will be, but she's a Nosy Rosie, so I am sure she will love looking around and people watching!

Have a great time!

The crowds will actually be fairly "tame" right up until Memorial Day Weekend. And even then, they were manageable. And as for the Gay Days, they have a website which lists their parks touring schedule, so you can see where the uptick in crowd levels will be. But I would not change your trip dates, because by visiting later in June you're guaranteeing any trip will coincide with the majority of schools having let out for the summer.

Be sure to have a birthday dinner! Ours will be one week away from her second birthday, but we plan to do a little early celebration.

My fiance and I were there last Memorial Day weekend and the crowds were really not bad at all. Like it has been said already, kind of like a typical day over the summer.

Have fun!!!

We're going May 26- 30. Hope it won't be too bad. We usually go the day after Labor Day and it's been awesome! No lines whatsoever. But now my little one has school and don't want to pull her out. Keeping my fingers crossed for good weather and not so big crowds.
