Hey guys just wanted to share some news with you. I was pricing trips with a travel agent a while ago... some just won't leave you alone... Anyway she contacted me today telling me that if I was interested in going still I should consider booking soon. She said that they received word that ticket prices will be increasing soon.

Do you think this is this the week? How far in advance dose disney travel give their agents a heads up?

Little to none.

Zero - its all rumor. They don't know anything for sure until it's known for everyone and lately price increases have been effectively immediately.

Agreed. I know a certified Disney TA, and she said they are taught to review all costs before giving clients a quote as item prices can change at any time. My bet is "the word" she got came from the owner of the travel agency who has been following the news & rumors and finally decided to let the agents use the line "an increase is coming".

When prices do increase, you can almost always get them from undercover tourist for the old price for a day or two, sometime longer. They have a stock of tickets at the old price. Just don't wait too long. I did a few years ago and got burned by $20 / tix increase for some universal tickets.

And ticket prices never go down...

This sounds right. Wordage you used is almost identical to the email.

LOL, no such thing as a certified Disney TA.

There are agents who are Graduates of the College of Disney Knowledge.

There are agencies that are Authorized Disney Vacation Planner agencies.

An agent can get a Certified Travel Associate (CTA) or Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) certification from The Travel Institute.

Disney does not certify agents.

There ya go, she's one of those... not someone I talk with on a regular basis ever since I bought DVC and tend to all my friend's and family's planning on my own, she tends to treat me as the enemy. I'm just bad with terms.

Wow, her loss - I get a ton of business from DVC member referrals.

A Disney loving person looking to save up better for retirement poses the following question to her financial advisor: "Which performs better: buying Disney stock or buying and holding onto Disney passes?"
Financial Advisor: "My advise is to steer clear of all things Disney and you'll have plenty to live on when you retire."

 So that's what I'm doing wrong.

My local news channel this morning, Fox 13, stated the prices where rumored to increase soon. MK to $105 and other parks will follow in the increase.

You must be fairly local to WDW for pass prices at WDW to make news. (Let me first say, I'm Not targeting you CrazyDisneyFanLuke, thank you for your info... I'm targeting Fox below)

So we are wondering who is feeding your station this piece of news? Did it come directly from Disney? If so, why don't we see official announcements being released all over the place? .... or, are they playing into the hearsay on these and other forums all to be the first to 'report' it?

Issue with them passing along heresay is that there are a lot of folk out here debating on putting passes on their credit cards now if prices are expected to increase, verses waiting and probably having the cash and paying the higher prices. (Personal Finances is a different topic for a different day folks, so let's not go there). These people need facts.

Concerning tickets prices going up; At Staybridge thtere was no ticket price information; however at Floridays Resort and Caribe Cove resort the information in there stated prices for 1 day at Magic Kingdom was 104.00 plus tax and one day at any of the other parks was 99.00 plus tax

Take it with a grain of salt, I sure didn't; how would the hotels know the new prices if the ticket sellers at Disney or even the travel agencies dont know the new prices yet ?

Disney has plenty of cast members that are on temporary assignment. Most of them are certifiable.

Did they site the WDW NT post? I haven't seen it anywhere else.

They did state that it was rumored. Then I was reading Facebook comments on a news article About the prices. Most of the comments say they won't be visiting because it's over $105 a day. Even if they where going to a different park than mk.

Edit: the article was just posted below.

Because Disney gave them the data so they could update their point of sale systems in time for the increase.

It was on the local radio station ...talk radio....anyway the call in segment was going crazy with people saying how they wouldn't be spending over $400 a day just to get their families into a theme park. We shall see if it really impacts Disney. We are going down in 13 days and after this trip we will be taking break from WDW...hope to visit DL and other locations.
