Today i posted the plan for my expansion of Disney Hollywood Studios.

A preview: lands based on Indiana Jones, Star Wars, The Muppets, The Avengers, Oz, Pixar, and Toontown all roughly nestled into the existing park backstage footprint. No longer could this be called a half day park...

thanks everyone.

Question: What would you do with FastPass+? How would you handle it? Or will you go into detail on this in a later post?

Fastpass+, a complicated topic. As you've seen through the posts, I have included fastpass lines in all the drawings, just because i logically know fastpass isn't going anywhere. Also, I've always known the Disney parks as having fastpass as i think its was being rolled out on my first or second trip as a child. So I've never seen how lines were supposedly shorter without it but I believe it. And I'm holding judgement on fastpass+ till its rolled out fully but I don't like how much it forces pre-planning and limits the flexibility of traditional fastpasses.

So saying all that, fastpass+ might actually be able to work in these parks because of the high increases of C, D, and E level attractions. A perceived weakness of fastpass+ is that it forced you to use fastpasses on minor attractions because of the capacity issues, but these parks have such a inflation of capacity that no fastpass+ would be considered a waste. I still don't think its a great strategy and still think that traditional fastpass or no fastpass would be better, but the issues would be minimized with this plan.

Later on, maybe between parks, I might do a post of some overall strategies and ideas i have about the parks, which would include this. Just depends on what kind of time I have. Working on my final project for this semester up until thanksgiving, so I'm short for free time.

Yeah, wonderful job with that. Even just thinking about walking in there, gives me the chills. In a good way.

Thanks, I hoped for that feeling. I just hope that whatever we do get has serious investment behind it and is able to create that feeling for real. Thats the potter swatter. Which is just going to get more difficult to do in the next year.

Hey yeah I am back, glad you found it.

I actually tried to post here letting everyone know about my new website but the post was promptly deleted for self promotion i guess. I knew eventually someone would find it though.

As I say on the new site, I am trying to make this one sustainable so I will be posting about every two weeks with new designs and thoughts on theme park design from an architectural perspective. Every post I am going to try to bring up a topic of discussion for us all to share thoughts on in the comments.

There are a few posts up already and another one next week, so check it all out over at http://imagineerland.blogspot.com/

Did you shut down your Conceptual Theme Park Planning blog, because when I try to get in, it says I need permission to view the blog.

I took the original page down because just about all the work is out of date and I wanted to consolidate my work into one location. Some of the good stuff will be redeveloped and posted again on Imagineerland. Some of it will not because I don't think its quality is a good representation of my design skills. The worthwhile things will eventually find a way to return.

If there are any particular projects from the old blog that you want to see again with more development, leave a suggestion and I'll add it to my future projects list.
