It is that time of year when travel agents and press are brought in for the resort showcase. The event this year is April 29 - May 1 2015.

We don't typically get major announcements at these, but smaller additions may well be announced.

What are you expecting?

Perhaps the Adventureland Veranada project, more on Rivers of Lights and the Kilimanjaro Night Show?

With the Walt Disney World press event happening this week should we be expecting any announcements on upcoming projects?

I didn't even know they were having one....im going with a big fat no on anything worthwhile
Rickey from stated in his podcast released yesterday that he will be attending a WDW press event this week. I also looked back and saw there was a media event held at WDW on April 30 2014. So with it being the same week of the year there very well could be a presser.

It sounds that Mr. Brigante was trying to burnish his TWDC "press" credentials more than anything else....

That would at least be exciting.

I expect nothing more than the same stuff we have all known about for months, but the normal people out there have never heard of. Just like the press conference before that, and the one before that, and the one before that....;)

Well the event is not for us crazy disney board people it is a press event to get people into parks for the summer.

So of course we will know most of it already if not all of it.

Quite correct.

It still never seems to stop people from thinking that they will lay out the development plans for WDW spanning the next 20 years and the inevitable disappointment of those same people when all they do it talk about Disney Springs.

"Media Event" is being used quite loosely here... local bloggers and other digital outlets will outnumber traditional media 20 to 1, maybe more.

I've been fortunate enough to attend some of these in the past. Disney puts on a great show, but some of the attendees are insufferable.

And, not to get too "tin foil hat" or anything, but lately they've been doing these inside of Nielsen ratings periods. It wouldn't surprise me if they were using this as a way to cut down on out-of-town TV folks using the invitation for a free getaway.
