Last night I was thinking if I lived in Florida, would I go to Disney on a regular basis, like a weekend trip. Then if I lived, say in New York, would it be a yearly trip. Then there's me,living in Scotland,3000 miles across the pond.Does the distance from WDW play an important factor on deciding how often you visit.? My sister in law arrives next week from Los Angeles with her two boys. They live at Hermosa Beach but her boys now aged 12 & 15 hardly ever visit DL. According to her,the magic is no longer in their hearts and they would rather go to soccer camp or surf at Redondo. Yes,when they were younger they went at least 10 to 12 times a year. Now my DS will be 16 this year. ( please stop the world clock & turn back time ) Anyway, tho he's looking forward to Dubai this year,he is saving hard,( as we all are ) to going back to WDW in 2014. What are your thoughts on this.? Does the distance to WDW play any factor on how often you visit.? Or is it " Too many visits, spoil the magic". ?

Im a New Yorker and typically go once a Year or maybe 18 months or so. We are less than 6 months til our next trip and we are already getting Excited and making plans for what we want to do when we are there.

Not sure If we would be that excited if we were going every couple of months.

We Hope to retire to Orlando or within a few hours drive so we cantinue to do Long weekends or day trips to Wdw!! Hopefully being so close wont take the magic away too much!!

I totally agree. (A bit like sex.)
No...exactly like it! Those that disagree..give it a few years. You'll see! o_O:eek::rolleyes:

However, back to less basic things. I honestly do believe that the more you go the less the excitement associated with it. Even though I can look at Disney with a skeptical eye at times, I really believe that once the initial "Wow" wears off you start to see the things that missed your attention before, like light bulbs, paint chips and the occasional napkin on the ground. They were there before but we never noticed it. You can apply that to sex in whatever way gets you through the day. :p

Yeh,your spot on.The light bulb in my DW eyes isn't as bright as it was 25 years ago.and recently Ive noticed the odd paint chip here and there, but Ive yet to lay the napkin on the ground.( there's a country song in the making ) ;)

As a Long Islander with an airport 15 minutes away, I could be in WDW pretty quickly... but (money issues aside) there is the issue of burnout. I liked going twice a year because it made me really, really want to be there and think about how much it means to me. I think if I went more (ok, I could take a long weekend somewhere in there), it could lose some of its sparkle and magic.

Same with some of the other trips I take... it's nice to go, but can't see doing it every month....

I would love to be able to go oftener. Presently we go twice (for two weeks each) on an annual pass. Last year we did a 3rd trip on our passes on the spur of the moment to attend the Halloween party. Anyways, we're 15 hours by car from WDW. If it was half that, we'd surely go oftener. Now if we lived in Florida and could go anytime, it would be amazing to be able to wake up and say, 'let's go to WDW today', and go. Or after work, go over and have some dinner and see the fireworks. How nice that would be.

I think its sometimes a matter of what you do while there, we always try to make sure we do things we haven't done before...different tours, restaurants, rides, i know there will be a point some day where we can say we have done everything, but hopefully they keep growing and adding things. I have yet to lose the excitement because i know each trip will be different from the last. We go at least twice a year.

Part of me is envious of those who have gone every year since they were born, but on the other hand, I do believe going every year would take aways some of the specialness about it. Every couple of years is fine for me. We haven't gone since 2010 (3 years!!!) so we are so excited and looking forward to all the new things.

We drive and it is about nine hours....if a lot farther than that, yes, we would go less often. Closer we would go more often. If it ever started losing the magic, if simply because of repetition, we would go less often, I'm sure. Unlike many diehard Disney people, we also thoroughly enjoy SeaWorld, Uni, IoA, and we also do side trips to many of Florida's natural wonders like diving in fresh water springs, swimming with manatee, Silver Springs (soon to become a state park), exploring and antiquing in many small towns, going to air shows (especially to see the Blue Angels) and so much more.
We have never really been stuck inside that Disney bubble, but do like being immersed in It when we choose to do so.
I think if we lived closer there are so many other wonderful diversions and activities that we would stay busy.
I could be wrong...if we lived in the immediate area, I might just go every weekend till I got sick of it.

Unfortunately, like most everything else, I think WDW would become a bit stale if we were going more often. Once a year seems like a perfect balance for us, given that we're about 8hrs away. Of course, I'd LIKE to go more often but don't want to spoil the anticipation, which makes up about half of the enjoyment of the trip, to me anyway.
I think most kids go through the non-Disney phase so that's nothing too extraordinary. I grew up in FL and got a full dose of WDW as a kid. I went on hiatus from about age 18 - 30. Once I took my first trip back and stayed onsite though, I was immediately hooked again and haven't looked back since. Now, with kids and occasionally with the parents, it just keeps getting better and better.

Well we have been going forever at least once a year since we are only 10.5 hrs away. A few years we have been twice. We still get just as excited as before. With the DD being an adult and on her own, it is a new and exciting kind of Disney trip these days. We have talked about if we moved there and got pt jobs at WDW, would we still like it as much...yes we decided. But that saying, don't know if we would once we continued going every day to work? For right now once or twice a year is good.

We go every two years,I would love to be able to go every year, but every two years works out pretty well for us right now.If I lived in Florida I would definetely be going to the Parks a lot. Probably once a week. But I would miss the excitement and anticipation of planning a WDW vacaction. I would miss the excitment of flying into Orlando, taking the DME,and staying at a WDW resort for a whole week.
