I don't think it would work at WDW since things are so spread out, but all I can say is wow. Kudos to Universal for doing this for their fans, that is going to create an amazing amount of good will with a group that is probably pretty local heavy. If they sell just a handful of annual passes from that then it was worth it for them.

According to the video it was complimentary for the two hours. So your AP wouldn't have been needed which makes it even better!

This. Is. Amazing.

I probably would have fainted from excitement if that had happened to me. lol. The movie along was absolutely incredible.

They only way they could do it in Disney is if they had special buses to transport everyone to the park after the movie and show their ticket to get on the bus. It could work. But not as well.

FJ wasn't open, FYI.

It's a great idea and a wonderful PR piece, but those who slam Disney for not doing this seem to being quite ignorant. It would be impossible at WDW and something similar is already done at the El Capitan theater with most new major Disney releases.

Good job Universal, though.

I don't think there is really any slamming...we all kind of understand that it would be a bit of a logistical nightmare at WDW due to size. However, it was a very good PR move and while Disney doesn't have to do something like that there are definitely surprises they could pull off that would have equal success.

Neither was Dragon Challenge. Dragon Challenge wasn't open due to the noise restraints the park has on the neighborhoods nearby, and FJ wasn't open due to maintenance needing more than 2 hours to work on the ride to get it ready for the next day. But still, having the shops and Ollivanders open, as well as Butterbeer would be a great time after the movie. Also, it was only for 2 hours.

I go to Florida in just under two weeks but if I went on my usual date I would have been at city walk and saw this :( oh well I still haven't seen the film heard it was amazing though :D

Disney has more than just "a few" buses. If they wanted to make it work, they easily could.

Exactly...

and on another note. How is it a logistical nightmare? All they have to do is let the people at Parking gate and turnstiles know to only let people in with the type of movie ticket they would know that AMC at Downtown Disney would be using for their midnight premier. Those people had to get to a midnight showing at that Downtown Disney theater somehow, they could drive over if they wanted to get into said park for special event if they wanted to.

How so? I live in SoCal and have been to several movie events at El Capitan, and I have never heard of them loading up the theater in a bus and taking them anywhere. I think the biggest freebie given out at Disney El Cap events is a commerative popcorn bucket, or maybe a keychain or little plastic toy. And they've NEVER included Disneyland into the events.

Of course, that could be due to the fact that the El Capitan in Hollywood is 35 miles north of Disneyland, and it would take at least a 45 minute drive when you factor in surface streets in Hollywood and with no traffic on any of the freeways.

They have lots of special events at Disney's El Capitan theater, but nothing involving surprise field trips to free events or bus excursions from LA down to Orange County to visit Disneyland in the middle of the night. :veryconfu

I love how people are trying to justify that it's possible for Disney to do this. Of course it's possible. But is getting a few hundred people a few miles down the road, as easy as letting them walk down a walk way that only takes 5 min to get down? No. It would be very hard for Disney to do this. Of course it's "possible", by why create the hassle just to be apart of standing around in an empty theme park at 2am.

I'm sure the people saying that Disney could do this, would be the same people complaining when it took 20-30 min to be loaded on a crowded bus and taken to a theme park.
