These bad boys. They probably don’t exist anymore but would be cool to have back.

Really though, what ip could star tours be rethemed to that would draw in guests? Ik I’ve said futurama but that’s unlikely. They also can’t do the iron man experience. Not many ips can fit into star tours framing, and plus it’s good promotion as well for the other movies coming out. So realistic, nothing changes.
What other Marvel characters can they use in Florida?

I feel like Doctor Strange would be a good draw.

One more thing to add is that Star Tours got Mando and Andor a few months back. So they aren’t ready to toss it out yet.

Tbh I do feel it’s time is coming. It changed theme parks forever, but with all the more advanced simulators, it’s kinda short on the clock imo. I don’t think it’s there in 10 years at wdw

God I hope so. But I’m not sure if they want to.

Plus, (don’t want to make this about Splash) but killing another one of Baxter’s babies might not be something WDI wants to do. Unless they keep the one in Cali

Reportedly the sequel trilogy thing is why they're gunshy about any sort of further expansion? I say to keep an eye on Mando because it'd be the first Star Wars film since 2019, but that's in 2026.

The Door Coaster rumor actually had another recent revival where it was gonna go into Courtyard, it's like a cockroach.

The Muppets Courtyard just has an issue where it could be prime real-estate to connect THE Star Wars ride to Galaxy's Edge. But I sincerely don't see it happening for a whole decade+. I'd put more stock in Star Tours getting rethemed over GE EVER connecting to Star Tours. But I'd wager MV3D is forever protected like how Tiki Room and CoP is because it's the main legacy of a notable creator in WDW.

I sincerely don't think it's happening.

I bet more money on Star Tours becoming an America Sings themed simulator versus Muppets being evicted.

Does this Doors coaster rumor happen to come with a clone for the Hollywood Backlot at DCA? I’m more than fine with Avatar going into backlot / expansion area but in my ideal world they’d turn the backlot into Monstropolis and the doors coaster in the expansion area. Then Avatar would go in the Simba lot. I’d love a new themed coaster at DLR and there’s a lot of reasons Disney should consider it.

1. DCA has a grand total of two family friendly dark rides at the park. Would be a shame for the Avatar expansion to be a “lateral” move in this regard. You’d have to lose the Monsters Inc dark ride.

2. Monstropolis would feel much more natural in this section of the park and easier to blend in theming with surrounding area/ lands.

3. Don’t have to do anything with the Monorail

4. Quicker way and relatively cheap way to get some more bodies in DCA and more specifically that part of the park. At least in comparison of what Avatar would cost there.

5. Pretty sure Monsters sell a lot more merch than Avatar.

Granted, Pandora with a E ticket boat ride moves the needle a lot more but I think there is a good case to be made for Monstropolis in the backlot. Pandora would work better in the Simba lot.

Discussion about the details of a rumor or its validity is on topic.

Talking about how one feels or thinks about a rumor or coming up with cool ideas about the rumor or just any tangent... that's off topic.

Yeah, that's a mislink I somehow messed up. Will try to find where it was posted or delete it if I can't next update.

If the new ride is cutting into the safari, would that make it a northern project?

Anyway, I wonder if this next post I found from 2017 about Disney moving away from the zoo concept could be useful context, although since then Disney has been putting Animal Kingdom zoo shows on Disney+, so maybe things have changed?
Let me begin by stating that I am not a Disney insider. I do not have the knowledge of members like @WDW1974 , @marni1971 , and @Magic Feather . I am a research psychologist that regularly attends and presents at conferences and meetings that are attended by animal scientists and comparative psychologists that work at Disney's Animal Kingdom and The Seas with Nemo and Friends (which is still referred to as The Living Seas at professional conferences). Over the past several years, I have studied play, including its purpose, how it is measured, and how it is comparable between humans and non-human animals. Because of this research program, I have had the opportunity to meet with two scientists and one imagineer.

These individuals have described Disney's Animal Kingdom as being "the red headed stepchild" of Disney Parks. Disney's Animal Kingdom is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). Beyond animal care and management, accredited zoos and aquariums are to engage in rigorous conservation, research, and education programs. Although Disney has Disneynature and the Disney Conservation Fund, there is a significant disconnect between these arms of the company and Disney's Animal Kingdom park. Specifically, the animal scientists and conservation biologists are not heard.

Take Kilimanjaro Safaris for example. Zebras tend not to be aggressive. However, on the safari, they began displaying pack-like behavior and hunted other animals. Giraffes commonly fell because of the terrain. These are serious issues that do not have to be addressed on The Jungle Cruise. When Pandora was announced, significant concerns were raised regarding how lighting and noise could cause the animals stress. I am told that individuals outside of the animal science program neither understand these issues nor want to deal with them.

As recent as November 2016, I was told that animal programs would not be expanded at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Instead, over time, they would be reduced as the parked shifts from an AZA zoo to a jungle theme park. Instead of an Australia with kangaroos and koalas or South America with an Amazon rainforest, the direction is to use IPs like The Jungle Book, Indiana Jones, and Zootopia. Animals will continue to have a presence in the park, but the focus will not be inspiring through live animals.

The Oasis has several animal habitats, which continue to remain empty. Also, it is not always common to be met by someone from the animal science team that is showcasing an animal in that area. The reason for this, again from the people that I know, is because animal programming is not valued. Like Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom is going to change. However, unless you are entering the park seeking scientific discovery, you may not even notice what slowly disappears.
