No downside to staying in the hotel portion. They're seamless buildings and the rooms are similar.

Halloween will be in full force, and crowds will not be low. Expect moderate to high crowds. Haunted Mansion Holiday will be running as well, and look out for Mickey's Halloween Party dates if that interests you.

Thanks for the updates - interesting to hear crowds may be moderate. Excited to hear Halloween starts that early!

Additional question: Were would you recommend for a clean hotel moderately priced for one night? We're now debating flying in late on Wednesday night and staying somewhere before our three nights at Grand Californian. This would allow us to do three days in the parks.

Thanks!

If you are a Marriott/Starwood points guy, there is a good and recently renovated Fairfield and a brand new Courtyard on Harbor Blvd. about a 10 minute walk from the main gate to the parks. Immediately next door to both properties is a Panera Bread for quick meals, and a Mimi's Cafe for good sit-down food with a glass of wine.

Courtyard is the one at 1420 South Harbor Blvd.
Fairfield is at 1460 South Harbor Blvd.
