WDW PoTC REHAB....well sorta...

When does the REAL rehab of POTC start? I am so disgusted with the WDW version of POTC. I wish they would update/change it already to tie it in with the movies.

They may be closing the ride for one day so the WDI folks can get in there and collect information (measurements, location of equipment, etc) for the real rehab coming later in 2006? Just a guess.

The Pirates rehab and addition of Jack Sparrow, Barbosa, the Black Pearl and other animatronics that I mentioned on my site and in my Rumor Mill in our podcast some time ago are, from what I understand, a "done deal", although the actual dates for this transformation have not been set as yet.

I don't know what to think about all of that Lou. Yes I know that the movie and the characters are extremely popular, but I also wish that they could create a new attraction for those characters specifically instead of changing the original. But that's what I wish they would do, not what I think Disney should do or will do. I guess I'll be taking many trips on the POTC next week to get to see it in it's original form one last time.

The reason I don't do it, is that I don't need Disney getting on my case (like they already have) asking me how I have access.

I don't see why they couldn't do that during the night when guests aren't going to be on the ride anyways. That's when WDI usually goes on the rides (they were on SSE a few nights ago!!!!!!!!!)

BTW, I'd be careful where you access the Cast Portal if that is indeed what you are able to do. Unauthorized access to a computer system is a felony, and you pretty just admitted guilt above. So either you are breaking the law or you make things up to make yourself seem superior on the Internet; for your sake, I'm not sure which one would be worse.

I don't post anything from the portal, and I don't spend hours upon hours on it. It's just considerably easier to check things like park hours and rehabs from the cast portal on Opera than it is on Disneyworld.com.

And I know for a fact I'm not the only non-CM on these boards that has access to the portal, so I think you need to make a blanket accusation of a felony

No, just answering your question. You leave yourself wide open for criticism when you post your history with the Disney company on a website, post the link in every post you make for all to see, and then sit here slamming current CM's for making a post that was helpful to the community. As was stated by another CM later in the thread, this info was for public consumption. Your inital post was a pithy and rude comment against someone who was simply sharing information with the community, and with your unique history with WDW I found it odd you would throw stones in that direction.

I didn't make an accusation. I simply said if you are truly making unauthorized access to a company database, as you have put forth several times in this thread, that is a felony. That's not an accusation, that's a fact; I'm not accusing you of anything, you are admitting to it. As to you trying to deflect it on others, they are no more legally allowed to do so than you are. In fact, because of the sensitivity of WDW to national security, I wouldn't be surprised if they could find some way to nail on some Patriot Act violations as well if they were especially cross with you.

So, no matter why you go there (even if it's just to check park hours), you are breaking the law. Doesn't matter if you post things from it or not; it's the actual act of accessing the website as an ex-employee. Again, I have to question why in one breath you would admit to doing this, and in the next say you keep it quiet because Disney has "already" been on your case. Something doesn't add up there...if you truly think you are signifigant enough for Disney to be "watching" you, again, I'd be careful when/how I access that website. I'd be especially wary of admitting to it in a public forum that is a known to have the attention of said company.

I do just fine being a regular old WDW visitor and checking the public website, so if you need some tips as to how to access the operating hours more efficently, perhaps you can start a thread and I and others can share them with you. It can be a pain, but using a tabbed browser can really help when you want to bring up multiple days. I mean, if that is all you go there for, and you spend little time there, it isn't really worth breaking the law for park hours...is it?
