WDW or Universal this Christmas?

Well, we've been split between the two for years, but as things continue to progress with less bang for your buck at WDW, eg.: today's announcement of food portions getting smaller for the same price, etc., we're locked in to Universal on our next trip in March.

You just get more for your money, and you have City Walk outside the parks themselves for food. There's PLENTY to choose from there!

As has been pointed out above, there are several Christmas events planned/going on at Uni too!

Universal would be my vote.

Used to, but what exactly are you getting at WDW without having to pay for the holiday party? At Universal you are getting a parade and Grinchmas included with your park ticket.
The decorations alone at Walt Disney World trump Universal. Having been to both multiple times, I'll still pick Disney every time.

Edit / Update: annual passes at USO. Went in February and May (post-spring break) for three nights each time. Got good deals on Royal Pacific and Hard Rock so we had express passes courtesy of hotel choice. I think we'll wait a while before heading back to Disney. Just too crowded right now. Looking forward to going again, though. Haven't been since 2019 pre-pandemic.

If it has to be only one, WDW hands down. Don’t get me wrong, Universal is a ton of fun, but many parts of it are closer to a Six Flags than they are WDW. And you are spot on that, come Christmas time, the gap between WDW and Universal grows exponentially bigger.

BTW, I realize this thread was older, just figured I’d weigh in anyway on the general topic.

've got reservations at All Star Movies. Four-day tickets and five nights (two rooms) for our family of seven. The cost for room and tickets is $4327.

I've also got the same dates reserved at Universal. Two rooms at the Royal Pacific, and Florida annual (seasonal) passes. Total cost here for room and tickets is $3934.

is that a real question?!?! Universal please

Royal Pacific vs ALL Star. Royal Pacific is better than a Disney Moderate but lower than a Deluxe............making it a Moderate plus or a Deluxe light

thus, for less money, you'd be situated in a glorified "Moderate" compared to a lowly All Star.

The thing about food portions is it does not cost that much for 20% more food. 20% extra food adds, what, maybe 1-5% of the price? The cost of labor and preparation are essentially the same for any similar portion size.

Granted if we are talking steak or lobster or somesuch, then adding more is significantly more expensive, but all filler foods (potatoes, rice, veggies, fries, etc) are cheap in the grand scheme of $20 lunches.

What this is about, imho, is far more calculated. It is about making it harder to share meals and leaving people hungry so they have to buy more food.

A fairly despicable move and one the dissuades my return even more.

The only exception might be if the portions were ridiculously large, and the reduction was done to reduce waste. We have all been places where this is the case. I can get behind that, but I don't think that is what we are talking about.

It depends what you want and what you’re willing to spend. Main Street can’t be beat for that Christmas feeling, however unless you pay to eliminate the barrier from the parties you’re not getting much themed entertainment.

I’ll be honest even sea world rocked it for the holidays
