WDW New Years Eve on TV

Okay, as much as I hate to admit it, I was at home watching television on New Year's Eve last night.

Something struck me as curious. In the midst of all the networks covering NYE from New York, Las Vegas, et al, I found only one show that was showing New Years Eve from Disney World. It was on Telemundo. They were showing celebrations in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney/MGM Studios and Pleasure Island. I checked the other stations and couldn't find any coverage on any of the English language networks, so I counted down to 2003 in Spanish and watched the celebration at WDW. Now, I'm sure a lot of it was pre-recorded (especially since I'm in the Central Time Zone, and WDW is in Eastern) but it still seemed like a lot of fun.

Did anybody else catch anything on TV? Was there anything in Elglish that I just missed? Was I hallucinating?

On D!ck Clark's Rockin New Year's Eve, they had little, supposedly "live" segments, nothing spectac, every once in a while from WDW and DL... In DL, they were supposedly broadcasting from Hollywood Pics Backlot and in front of IASW... From WDW they were broadcasting from and above Main Street, towards the Castle, and I also saw them head over to Epcot for a very brief segemtn of Illuminations, ROE...

But there was some video from the Disney parks on English-speaking ABC channel.

you could tell ABC was owned by Disney by the amount of WDW and DL coverage they showed. About every other comercial they would show WDW & DL. And suprisingly not Universal or IOA.

No, no...

No Universal...

But D!ck Clark kept on confusing the difference between DL and WDW - they would show a short clip of DL and he would start talking about "down there in Florida"...

   :animwink: :D ;)

Yea i noticed that too! They would show a clip of DL but he would go, "Theres some of our friends in good ol' Florida." lol And yea... I tuned to telemundo too but all I saw was them at PI so I switched back from that to D!ck Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve Party.

Well, you could have seen the rain if it was a live shot, Disney got about 4 to 6 inches of the wet stuff from New Year's Eve night into early New Years morning

OOOO so what your saying is that *cough* *cheap* Disney did not keep open the parks open till midnight for all of their guests? And then they won't even give pens to their employees. :brick:

I believe the parks were open untill about 1 or 2 on tuesday night, but they probably just recorded video from a few days before instead of doin a real live video shot. Its much easyer to just hit play on a video machine then to send a crew in for about 5 30sec video shots. All though it really made me want to go back to florida  :) :D

MK, MGM, Epcot...1am all 3 parks hit capacity
DAK, 7pm

the rain started at 8pm.....most guests (about 75%) were gone by 9pm.

they canceled the 2nd spectro, and limited the midnight firworks

Yeah, if it was anything like in Tampa on tuesday night, it was coming down pretty darn good. I was in Ybor city in the outback bowl parade and then went to busch gardens for dinner. We were gonna stay to ring in the New Year at BG, but decided to leave. It seemed like the rain was bad to me, but of course Im not used to Florida storms.

I was in Disney for NYE....and boy was it raining. My family and I were planning on spending New Years Eve in Epcot (we had heard that Elton John, Phil Collins, Aerosmith, Michael Jackson and others were supposed to be there) but because of the sheets of rain that were coming down we didn't. We sat in our room and watched it on TV. It definately was pre-recorded b/c at midnight it was pouring, the parks and resorts were flooded, and there was no one in the parks. But, on TV it was dry and the park was crowded. Just my two cents.
