Hi,

Has anyone been to WDW the end of September, after school starts? We plan on going September 20-27th. Was the weather still too hot or nice? Was it busy, average or slow? Any comments will be greatly apprieciated. :sohappy:

Thanks!
Steph

Ah!

Yes, I went last year almost the same time you are going.

The parks were EMPTY! We walked on EVERY ride. Even the Fast Pass rides. We never used a fast pass and everything was great!

The only thing that was lacking was the fact the fireworks in the Magic Kingdom do not go off during the week. They are on the weekends.

The weather was okay. It rained everyday at the same time. We were a little bit worried because a hurricane (forget which one) was heading towards florida, but veered off at the last minute. The temperature was pretty nice. It ranged from 70-85 if I remember correctly. Lets put it this way, I dont remember being cold, and I dont remember being hot.

The park hours are okay....they could be extended later. If I remember correctly, the parks closed, on average, at 8. Epcot was later, Animal Kingdom was earlier (like 5 or so).

If you have any more questions please feel free to PM me. I will help out as much as possible. I just wanted to give you a little glimpse.

Hope this helps a little!:hammer:

We will also be there September 22 to September 30 and we love this time of year. Still hot enough to take advantage of the pools and water parks, but not overly crowded. A slower pace for sure, but be prepared for early closings, no e-nights, COP and Timekeeper closures and apparently my favourite ride will be down for re-hab, BTMRR and limited fireworks etc. It can rain in the afternoon but for a very short time, nothing to ruin your holiday. The slower pace and low attendance outways the above for us. Have a great trip

September good/bad

hello. i have gone several times in Sept. and there are good points and bad points. Yes it will be hot during that time and remember it is just past the peak of hurricane seasons. In '99, we had a few near misses with some tropical storms and it did rain quite a bit (altho, thank god always when we were indoors). At night, you may want to carry a light windbreaker cuz even though it may be warm outside those attractions can get really, really chilly in the evening.

Attendance wise it is pretty quiet. Just be careful with Early Entry days...If your party is not really into getting up early, the park with the Early Entry Day tends to be busy. Since you are travelling with small children and it will be hot, it may serve you to avoid early entry parks and the crowds. That's only my opinion tho. On the other hand if you do early entry especially at MGM and EPCOT, you can do some attractions in the am;stroll leisurely back to the Yacht Club nap or make use of the resort; then go out again later in the afternoon.......staying at that resort will make things very convenient for you when you go to EPCOT and MGM. Have fun......

Totally agree with Jordanyosh

I totally agree with Jordanyosh. He is right on the money.

Hee hee hee.

(not that I'm biased because he's my cousin and WDW travelling partner in crime).

Enjoy! Maybe we'll see you there as we'll be there Sept 14-21 (then off to the cruise on Sept 21-25!)

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
September ROCKS!

Done the parks twice now at the end of Sept... I love it...

Parks are empty and just about everything is a walk on... except test track (15wait)

Bad thing is, the parks kinda close early.... :(

I might go this Sept... if I can get a second job soon... and pay off some of my debt. :)

We're going Sept. 21-27! We went in Sept. 5 years ago. It was wonderful but still very warm down right hot at AK. I'm not sure how the Fairytale Vacation Package is going to effect crowds this fall though.:veryconfu

crowds at the end of september

i thought i had seen this somewhere but the Fairy Tale Package runs through 8/23 and again 10/2-10/30 as per the Disneyworld website. They stated you still may be able to get discounted room rates at other times. So....hopefully if you are looking for the crowds to be lighter during your visit as I hope for ours, you may be in luck since the Fairy Tale Package doesn't run at all in September......I wonder why that is? does anyone know?

Good for you

I am glad that you were able to get that package for your trip. And as far as crowds go, sometimes crowds add energy to a park. So either way, I will be happy. I 'll just be glad I am there.

We got the Fairytale package also for Sept. that is why we are going, hadn't planned for this year, but couldn't pass up this great bargain. Jordanyosh your info must be incorrect, you might want to check again or some resorts might be fully booked for the Fairytale package.

If I get an Annual Pass now, can I book a room only reservation for september and get a discount? This is what I want to do.

get a room from the 13th - 18th, get my annual pass and my girlfriend a 4day park hopper. I heard it was cheaper (thanks Rob) to get an AP and then use the discount given to the AP to get the room/other ticket.

can i do this now though? or do i have to wait until the "codes" or discounts are released? And if I wait do i risk not being able to book the room due to it being sold out?

September is wonderful, it is one of the best times of the year to go to the World. With the low crowds you can do alot of the rides in the morning and then head to the pool or the waterparks in your Speedo for the afternoon,( It is usually perfect swimming weather in the afternoons in September) after that it is time to head off to the parks for the evening. The weather is the best IMHO

About the Sept. rates and the fairytale package. When I saw the ad in the paper it said from $499 per adult. I think the rates in Sept. are actually lower than that and that's why the dates are listed different. I hope that makes sense.

September

My old boss used to go every September. She loved it because there were no crowds. However, they have encountered terrible rain storms where they had to buy new clothes! They didn't have sweatshirts one year and had a cold spell, and once there was a hurricane and they had to stay inside. The hurricane didn't hit disney but it was close enough to affect the weather. Just be careful about bringing rain clothes. Also, don't worry about early closings because you can get on everything without it being late. When you go off season, it might close early but you really don't need it to be open late!
