WDW in May

Does anyone know what WDW is like in the second week of may? My brother and I (22 and 20) can't make it for December this year. We are in school but we'd still like to go when it's not so crowded.

I was there for two days this past May for my birthday (May 16th). It wasn't crowded but it wasn't empty either. It was just pretty normal so far as crowds went.

I was able to get an early dinner PS at Cinderella's Royal Table with only a couple days advance notice (though character breakfast was sold out) on that Sunday but not that Saturday. Still though, that's pretty good as far as PS goes.

We went in May 2001. The crowds were average. Some attractions we walked right on and others we had longer waits, but nothing extraordinary. We did run into a lot of school fieldtrip groups in Epcot on weekdays.

As far as the weather goes; highs in the 70's-80's lows in the 60's, it rained quite a bit on our first day and then just a little bit on our last day. I really loved going in May, but now that my daughters in high school (our schools go until June) we won't be going at that time of year for awhile.

I went May 17-24 of this year and being one of those people who always went in the middle of summer, it was a nice change from the long lines, rain, and intense heat. It only rained one day, compared to those once a day thunderstorms that come through daily in the summer months. Most lines were less than 20 mins, and we rarely used fastpasses. It was still warm, but not in the high 90's. I was even a little cool at night. I'd recommend this time of year to other people. :)

We've always gone in May, and broke the habit this year by going in July, December, and July again...
May is great for weather. Not blistering hot, but not too cool either. I think it stays in the mid-80's on average. Course, I'm not a Floridian, so someone correct me if I'm off...

I went for the first week of May in 2003 for my 20th birthday. Crowds weren't too bad, but rides weren't exactly walk ons either. Probably average. Weather was pretty hot, but not as bad as summer months. You should also get to see the flower and garden fest at Epcot. It's a cool celebration. I'm not really into gardening, but there's a lot of really cool topiaries during that time. Enjoy!

Yup, I agree. It IS still quite warm though not as hot as it gets in July for example. Though plan for heat! And I agree with the ride waits being average as well.

And great point about Epcot! It's really so beautiful there and it's well worth a couple hours to walk around the park just to look at how colorful and beautiful the Festival is! I forgot to mention it, but don't forget to see it! :)

We went the first part of May in 2002 for four days. On Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday we walked in on all the rides at all the parks. On Friday, however, it was PACKED while we were at the Magic Kingdom!

I just went to the Magic Kingdom this past May, I think at that exact time. And just like everyone else has said...the ride lengths have been pretty average. The most we waited for a ride was like an hour and that was on Big Thunder Mountain. We waited like 45 min for Splash Mountain. Space Mountain was practically a walk on as was most of the other rides. It was absolutely wonderful. We got to the park at like 10:30 and we were done by like 3:30. (Now, of course we didn't ride EVERYTHING...but we did just about everything that we wanted to.) All and all it was a great time to go...that's why me and my boyfriend are planning to go there next May.

My birthday is the 2nd week in May, so I have been to WDW more times in May than any other time. I love it, it's my favorite time to go. The weather isn't very hot yet and the crowds are not there yet. It's busier than September, but the crowds are never a problem. Plus all the FastPass lines are pretty short! I highly recommend going in the middle of May. Have fun!
