I'm also going in May - I am so glad to read all these comments! I was expecting crowds to be not so great. Now just waiting for those pesky park hours to be released.....

I was there in May of 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, and 1999.

Pretty much every time that I visited in May, prior to Memorial Day weekend, had low to moderate crowd levels. Wait times for late morning rides on Splash, TT, Space, RnRC, ToT, SM do not get to the rediculous levels you see during Spring Break, Summer, and the holiday periods.

I, in the past, have been able to effectively navigate through 15 attractions by 1PM in the MK. Then you have the choice to take it easy the rest of the day, or depart for another park. The few exceptions to this rule are
  • Weekends
  • Soarin (ride first thing in AM, or FP)
  • Any new special event that Disney cooks up for May.
The first two full weeks of May are the most ideal times to visit. If you visit the week before Memorial Day, you will find crowds gradually building up to the weekend, for sure.

I'll be down this May, again during the dates below:

We always go in early may (first week)...agree with what everyone else has said...the one thing that noone has mentioned is the potential for LOVE BUGS!!!...sometimes they are out and annoying...sometimes no problem at all.....

That's hillarious, when we were there in May 07 they were everywhere (I never knew what they were called, but that is a perfect name for them). But anyway, they didn't really bother us and the weather/crowds were great.

We went in the middle of May 2007, and enjoyed fairly light crowds, and clear but fairly hot weather.

Weatherwise, it was in the high 80s or just over 90 degrees each day we were there. It rained overnight once or twice, but we only encountered rain one night at the parks, and it was fairly light and lasted about an hour or so. It was also very humid most days... but not to the point of being unbearable if you take the time to rest and duck in and out of the air conditioned rides and shops. We deal with crazy humidity here in northeast pa in the summer months, so it wasn't something new.

As for the crowds, except for the headliner attractions, we never waited more than 10 or 15 minutes with planning and FASTPASS use. I think the longest we waited for any attraction the whole week was no more than 30 minutes... and that probably only happened once or twice.

Have fun!
