WDW in early-mid June

You can expect 90s+ during the day, 70s+ during the evenings. High humidity. The crowds will be heavy causing long waits for everything you want to do. The transportation coming and going to and from the parks will be packed. Your views of the shows, parades, fireworks will be compromised by jam packed viewing areas. Stores will be shoulder to shoulder buyers. Sidewalks will be barely passable at most times.
The only good thing is going in June is better than going in July and August. Have a fun trip.

We always go the second and third week in June. It's important to have a plan, hydrate often, and expect a thunderstorm sometime every day. We have always loved it, but we know what to expect - humidity and crowds. We go to the park at rope drop and stay til noonish, then resort for swim/relaxation, then back to the parks. We also don't go to a park everyday either. We normally have a break day every 3 or so days because the heat and crowds can take a toll on your overall experience.

Not as hot, humid, wet or crowded as August. It has now become my month at Disney for summer vacation. I've done 4th of July, the week after 4th of July , late July, early August and mid August. Last year I did early to mid June and it was good compared to July and August. We actually arrived the last weekend of SWW and caught that on Sunday.

What is WDW like in early-mid June in regards to temps, and crowds?

  • Midsummer (June through early August). Expect it to be very busy and extremely hot, with heavy humidity. To maximize your experience, plan on hitting the parks first thing in the morning. After lunch, take an afternoon break, then return to the park in the late afternoon/early evening. 11:00 am to 4:00 pm is the hottest part of the day and ironically the most crowded, too.

June is our preferred summer month as well. We've gone over July 4 before and vowed never again. I think June is way better than July or August as far as heat and crowds. (And combine heat with crowds... it's awful!) But, we're going on our next trip in mid July. We're not thrilled, but it was the only time we could go with one daughter taking a summer class in college. Christmas is crowded, but at least it's not hot. Plus, in July is when the Brazilians and other tour groups are there, making it even more crowded.

I actually went back to WDW last summer on July 5th and stayed 5 nights with the kiddos again but had my sister with me to help. It was one of my best trips. We just totally stayed out of the parks in the afternoon. Mornings worked best at parks for us, did the pool in the afternoon and some kind of resort visiting/dining in the evening. Luckily it was a drier week too. Last several summers have been very wet years compared to 2011 and 2012.

Are you from Houston? I'm in Austin, but originally from Houston. You'd think we'd be used to the heat, but at home we are not usually out walking around when it's 90+, right? I've always found June in Disney pleasant, other than the humidity. Hope you're staying safe and dry today.
