i've heard that wdw in Dec is like heaven - no lines, perfect weather , etc. Is this true? Is it still comfortable enough to swim if you're NOT a Canadian?

Our family goes in December almost ever year. The weather is always nice...but it depend on the year. Sometimes it is warm in the afternoons and some times it is chilly. But is seems like everytime thereare a few people in the pool. I am not sure if all the pools are heated but I knowsome are.

The weather is a bit more hit or miss. Last year there were times it was downright cold (highs in the upper 50's low 60's, while two years ago the first 2 weeks of the month were great weatherwise. The crowds during the first two weeks are significantly smaller than the end of the month.
BTW, All WDW pools are heated to 82 wonderful degrees, its the getting out of the water when the air temp is below 70 that's tough, even for us Northern Folk.

I have been in summer and winter (Sept & Dec) both land and sea, and let me tell you, it is much nicer in Dec. when the weather does not come close to unbearable and the crowds are very lite at the beginning of the month. More attractions are being rehabbed then but, from my experience the other rides are walk on. Isn't it great to come off a ride and say,"Lets do it again!" And you can. Hope this helps.

I agree, I went late Nov/early Dec in 1998(lovely weather),2000(quite chilly) and 2001(lovely again!),the real pay off is no waiting. If you get up nice and early you can get almost every attraction in and you can walk into most restaurants with no priority seating. Hope you have a great time!!

I have been there in December for the past three years. And I don't think I would easily go back there in the hot summer after experiencing the weather. It is unpredictable and you are bond to have a nice hot "swimming weather" day followed by chillier weather. So you have to pack both summer clothes and winterish clothes. But it is beautiful then and until about the 18 or so, the crowds are pretty low. :sohappy:

We're from the frozen north. We were at WDW this past December, and it was COLD!!! Wished we'd brought our parkas with us. However, everyone assured us that it was unusually cold while we were there - temperatures are usually far more moderate. My advice is to take those sweatshirts along, and dress in layers!:)

Last December was the first time that we had been during that time of the year. We were there the week after thanksgiving, and we loved it. Just as the others said it was chilly, but imho it is the best time to go MVMCP and the candlelight Pr. are great. Whether you can swim or not, you owe it to yourself to check it out around the holidays.

December

We go every year the first week of December and last year was the first year we wore sweatshirts. Every year, even at the MVMCP we never even wore sweatshirts but last year brrrrrr. I'd much rather go and have a little cold weather then go in the sweltering heat. We were also there in September of last year and it was Horribly Hot!!! And oh, by the way, we went in the pool because even though it was unusually cold, during the day it still hit 75.

It's FABU!!!

We were there the week before Christmas in 2002. It was chilly that first day and we wished we had brought the kids jackets with us. We ended up buying them sweatsirts. After that it was regularly 75 degrees during the day.

The kids went into the pool and had a ball. There were no crowds in the parks (such a blessing for inpatient children (6&8)). The longest we ever waited was 20 minutes.

I say bring a medium or light jacket and a sweatshirt or sweater to layer in case of a cold snap. 1 to 2 pairs of shorts I think is more than enough. The odds of a heatwave are slim. I saw soooo many people wearing shorts that first day and had to ask myself' "Don't you check the weather before you pack?" They were obviously cold.

The day before we leave on any trip somebody checks the anticipated weather at our destination. If you check online you can definately get five days worth guesstimated weather for your destination.

Actually, my husband insists on checking both the internet and the Weather Channel for up-to-the-minute forecasts whenever we travel. Although logically I know you're absolutely right, and it's sensible to be prepared, I CAN'T CONTROL THE WEATHER and I don't want to hear about rain (or worse!) when I can't do anything about it!!!
