WDW has a serious water fountain problem.. except for Epcot?

Both. The treatment plant generates potable water but nobody actually drinks it. It's a PR issue. Even if it's perfectly clean and sanitary and meets all the standards out there, they're not going to allow the Orlando Sentinel to publish the headline "Disney serves guests water generated from human excrement."
Why would they be concerned about the PR about this topic at WDW? Orange County does this and there hasn't been a huge backlash for DLR.

As someone else mentioned, you can get free ice water at any CS location. You can't taste the nastiness nearly as much when it's cold.

I guess it's just personal preference, I just can't get used to Florida water. Taste or feel.
Some of it is really bad, but that has ore to do with the local water treatment facilities. Where I'm at in Orlando the water tastes fine but is a little hard. Where I used to live in Orlando (closer to Disney) the water tasted like it does at Disney. It has that desalinated slightly sandy flavor. But Daytona does have very tasty water.

I have family a couple hours from Orlando and the water there taste better, but it still feels like you were stuck in a salt mine instead of a shower. Florida water also seems to get worse the farther south you go.

Thats why I used to bring kool-aid packets to cut the horrid taste in my water bottles, now I've started bringing Mio water enhancers. The pressure in the fountains really makes it difficult to fill bottles when you run low so I go to the counters for cups of water. Also the water pressure is horrible in the resorts showers. I know they probably want to conserve water and stop extended showers but I have to run the water longer to rinse off when the pressure is so low.

It does seem to get worse farther south. At least in Ft. Lauderdale. I spend half of the year there working and the eater makes Orlando's seem good!

I don't notice any bad tasting water. And I always buy one bottled water per day then fill it up with fountain water. Tastes OK to me.

I guess Epcots water was just colder then. We did get cups of water from the QS places quite a bit...got a couple of odd looks for getting 10 cups of water for our big group though lol

I am not a fan of the taste either, but they have to make their money some how ya know ?> The water tastes like crap so there for a person that doesn't know you can get a free water from places will buy bottled water. Win win for Disney.

May just be the chemicals in it to keep it clean. Sort of like the case in which one of the big bottle water companies said their water was cleaner than, I think they said Chicago, water, and the city actually proved their water is cleaner and that however they clean the water is what tastes kind of weird (but you can get used to it, I've gotten used to Philly water). If not you can probably ask the counter services for a cup of water, because they can't charge you for it, and it will also give you the benefit of being chilled with ice.

I think they should have different water fountains for AP holders, DVC members, and Deluxe Resort guests. The Magic Band technology would allow that. These guests could then get nice cold good tasting water.
Lol. Yes, and outhouses instead of modern plumbing for the off site guests as well!
