I'm sure there have been threads about this, but I'm in a hurry and have a question for all of you.

What Disney guides to you use and why?

I love Birnbaum, but I want to expand my knowledge of the World.

Thanks in advance.

I second the Passporter, lots of info on rooms, sizes, park ride etc.
I love the Birnbaum's Guide myself

A lot of people swear by the Unofficial Guide-it gives more detailed info. on park attendence trends and more statistical information.

Unofficial Guide is really neat. Much more information than you could possibly digest. Plus it has a neat sister web site where you can get touring plans, access the crowd calendar, etc.

I have three favorites:
  • PassPorter
  • Unofficial Guide
  • The Complete Guide
The last one has the best color pictures whereas the Unofficial Guide is just black and white.

Every year we buy The unofficial guide (and sometimes the Unofficial Guide with Kids). I like it because it really let's you know about Disney , both the good and the bad things. It's more realistic because it doesn't sugar coat the vacation, it helps bring you back down to earth especially when you have visions of the perfect most magicial vacation with kids. Those of us who have taken kids or have even people watched those with kids in the park, know that it isn't always pixie dust and ice cream bars:rolleyes:!

We also like The Birnbaum Book and our kids (DD11 and DS6) love the Birnbaum Book for Kids By Kids. This book just makes me happy when I read it and the pictures really help bring the vacation to life. My kids love the Kids Book because it gives them a view of the parks through the eyes of other children.

When I first went to WDw with my kids in 1992 I bought Birnbaum's and the Unofficial Guide. About 5 years ago I discovered Passporter and now it is the ony one I use. It has just the right amount of infomation for me and I  the planning tools and the Passpockets to store all of your paperwork/reciepts/park maps, etc. You can also use them to record information about your trip. I love to go back and read them. They bring back so many happy memories.

I'm another fan of the Unofficial Guide. It's great for getting down to the nitty gritty, especially when there's so much to do and you've got to make some decisions. The comparison tables are great, as well as the reviews that are included.

I'm an Unofficial Guide girl, and I also use allearsnet.com all the time. I like Birmbaum, but it's too much like the official line for me.

You also asked why - We used Unofficial in 2006, and we found that it gave great information. We did disagree with it sometimes, which is also good, but we felt like it steered us in the best direction. We never went to something that they raved about that we ended up not liking.
