WDW from Huntsville, Alabama

Greetings everyone. I will most likely be relocating to Huntsville, Alabama soon, and I was hoping some of your vast knowledge will help me in planning a driving trip to WDW. You know...routes, speed limits, time, etc.
Thanks

Route

I am a Birmingham resident. We always seem to drive down through Dothan (65 south, 231 south, I-10 East) and come back through Atlanta. It always ends up being right at a 9 hour trip both ways.

In my opinion, either way is about the same.

I live in Mississippi and I go through Atlanta. Unless you hit it in rush hour it is no problem. If you do hit rush hour though be prepared to park.

This way may be a few more miles but it IS faster. This May a friend of mine from work went the Montg. way and I went the Atlanta way and I blew his travel time away. And I don't speed either. I usually go about 5 mph over the speed limit. So on the way home he went through Atlanta and he had to agree it was better.

Maybe it was just luck.

But my suggestion is to try it both ways and judge for your self.

Good Luck!

Yes! I live in Wagon Wheel! I have the house that sits in front of that big silo on the farm behind the neighborhood. How bizarre that we lived about a half mile away from each other. I knew there were probably a few other Huntsville folks on the boards here, but I didn't think one would live down the road from me. And of course, you move away before we figure it out... :brick: We coulda met for a lunch and swapped WDW stories!
WOW! Do you know Robert and Rhonda Blocker?

They live on Taylor Denton. They have a nice house and a boy about 13 years old. Can't remember the exact address. We also have good friends that live on Juslyn Lane.

We live in Birmingham. We always take 280 from Birmingham to Columbus, GA. 280/520/82 to Albany and Tifton. Then I-75 to the Turnpike. It is a nine hour drive from our house to Disneyworld (with meal breaks and pit stops). If you don't like heavy traffic this is the best direct route. Speed limits vary between 70 and 45 (slower through the small towns). Sure beats fighting all the semis on the interstate.
