WDW during a Recession / Economic Downturn

Agreed. As a family with a 5 year old now, it sucks to see them having to get rid of a lot of family events and festivals the last few years.
I do understand why. They have tried with adding food festivals, more shows and parades, a major dark ride at every park with the Justice league ride. At the end of the day it's done little, why keep chasing the family market that has no interest in your product.
Hmm....I went to Epic universe last month and it's very family friendly... there is a little something for all ages, but nothing for a coaster enthusiast. I thought the park was very well done. The best thing about the park was the design. It never felt crowded when you walked around. A lot of open space and big walkways.

As a cruise person I know design is everything when it comes to dispersing crowds.

Was there last week and I agree

I think the issue is unfortunately an Orlando business one…

Both major players build things that have not enough ride and show capacity to disperse crowds…by design…to sell ride skips

It’s an unfortunate, cynical way to treat customers throwing the most money in their business at you already

I sort of agree/disagree with this assessment. On the one hand, DAK should have way more rides than it does now... but the rides that do exist have great capacity.

Cosmic Rewind was built with high-capacity throughput in mind, so I still think Disney cares about that stuff.

Same for Universal, they designed Monsters Unchained with great capacity... Donkey Kong on the other hand not so much. (Once Ministry is more reliably, it should have great capacity)

So I'm not sure that rides are being designed with lower capacity throughput... but I do think there's an incentive out there not to try too hard lol

I’m not singling out one ride or spot…it’s more the lack of investment to stay “above” the crowd levels at average and allow for flexibility.

You can’t deploy all hands on deck when the ship was already full.

Eisner - the great Satan - did overbuild for the future. His end period was a collection of bad scenarios…in dak…joe spent like a sailor in Singapore and got as little out of the cash dumped as possible. And it’s suffered ever since.

Iger has strangled building down over time lapse to bleed it.

Epic is very well built. But it doesn’t have enough seat count for even a controlled crowd without 2 hour standard waits. If that’s the rule…not the exception…you’ve failed.

Plus it’s incompatible with the Florida weather.

But a beautiful build. Easily at or near WDI standards

It was weird going from Epic which felt empty, but lines didn't reflect that. We splurged on express passes. Islands the next day was just wall to wall people everywhere. Lines were about the same length as Epic. I get more annoyed by the walkways then I do by the lines....so maybe that's just a me problem

Like I said as a cruiser some ships are designed to absorb the crowds and some are a cluster you know what. I really felt the design of Epic was well done. I'm guessing they'll be adding more attractions and expanding.
