nope, those were annuals in the bed, most likely Petunias or Pansies

Doesn't really matter... there are plenty more where they came from. There not going to work around flowers so as not to "harm" them. Just like a bunch of MBA's they are waiting for someone to be killed off so that they can jump into that position.

in the case of the flower garden, they were transplanted out well before the heavy equipment arrived, roses are a hardy lot, and their age and size are hard to come by. even with Disney growing backups, if they could save them, they were saved

Great post. After seeing the prints posted on the Avatar attraction, it's great to see the steel and know I read them right. The plans look like Disney is implementing one of the ideas they had on Soarin' but opted out of. That being the ramps to multiple floors. I'm sure the loading mechanism for a flying creature/simulator proved far too complex and large as compared to the simple solution required in Soarin'. This looks like it's going to be a lot like Uni's Back to the Future ride as far as loading goes.

No matter what, that's going to be one large building to camouflage from the parking lots!

Yeah, we have seem them used to hold up walls for various projects. It's a convenient heavy object for weighting things down.

It's actually Disney's standard design detail for construction walls. 2x4 and plywood panels with bases, loaded with concrete block. I saw a detail for them in a set of plans once.
